Pull-Starter Rope
If you don't want to buy an original replacement (which would probably be best because the manufacturer supposedly would provide the best material for the job) - the fishing line sounds good. Another choice would be "braided" nylon cord - I've used this (in the appropriate size) for lawn mowers and weed eater replacements and it seems to stand up very well to UV, gasoline and general abuse pretty well.

Pull-Starter Rope
I know everyone will have a laugh on that one but it works.
(Human beings can get very innovative when desparate)
I was trying to start my engine and the pull start cord died. I was so desparate to play so I had to find something that wold do the trick.
I tried normal rope for packaging and died in less than 3 starts. So I was really agnry trying to find something that would do
and then...... :rainfro:
I saw a friends dental flos.....
I took it, made a rope from it (I used a lighter to make is solid)
and then I put it on my pul start. Strangelly enough it is still there working.
Ok I am not syaing that you should do that but keep in mind that there are lot of options!!!
A practical suggestion I think is to go to a marine shop. Use the diameter of rope that fits in your pull start. The one that came with your pull start was of the same grade if not inferior so this should do fine.
