Saito 72 fuel consumption
While breaking in my new saito 72 with an apc 12x8 prop 15% synth/castor blend 4 stroke fuel we noticed it DRANK the fuel. The first tank (10oz) went in about 6 minutes, and it was all at idle under 4k rpm. We are using an OS f glow plug and havent messed with the needles yet. Should we go up to a 12 oz tank? We would like to get a 10 minute flight, at least.

Saito 72 fuel consumption
Hi coveredup.
6 minutes on a Saito 72 with a 10 oz tank sounds about right, especially since you're still running it very rich for break in. (about 4 turns out on the high end?). Once you've started to lean things out, I think you'll see your fuel consumption go down and run times get longer. I'm on about the 3rd gallon of fuel through my Saito 72 (with a 10oz tank in my CAP 232), and I think my flight times are around 8 - 10 minutes. Hope this helps...

Saito 72 fuel consumption
Leaning the low end needle really seems to help with the fuel consumption on the Saito's. I know it did wonders for my 100. i was able to get the 100 down to about an Oz per minute. i haven't measured my 72 yet.

It's WAY too soon....... breaking in and subsequent leaning will make all the difference in the world. Eventually it will purr like a kitten and be more fuel efficient than a 2 stroke.

Thanks, I am looking forward to tuning the engine for flight soon. (after a gallon at least). Unfortunately I have a bigger problem. It doesnt have any compression. ANY suggestions? I have submitted another post about this, you can check it out under glow engines.
Thanks
