Default Flite Metal

Hello, just a quick question

I am thinking of covering one of my models in Flite metal, I haven't used it before and wondered if here was any difference between Flite Metal and standard aluminium tape from a DIY store?

I have used standard DIY store tape on the inside of my tail cone on my skymaster F16 to aid with the glow of an afterburner ring and it is fantastic, just wondering about the experience of other people and Flite Metal/DIY store aluminium tape

Thank you in advance

I have used flite metal quite a bit. It will stretch much better then the store bought stuff. It also will burnish and patina nice. I enjoy using it. Panel by panel you can see your model coming to life. Barry

Barry also happens to be a glutton for punishment

He is quite proficient at Flite Metal covering however. Another benefit to the FM is that it is not as THICK as the store bought metal tape, and it actually has pores on the metal which give it a much more malleable and workable consistency and can give you better shine/sheen and polished/unpolished looks. Also lighter I believe.

Here is some of Barry's tutorials, I found them tremendously helpful!

Hi Steve

Ian Russell sedgemoor Club here

I've used flite metal on a new mustang drop me a pm if you want to discuss. I would use flitemetal over tape unless it was a small area or just to make hatches on a paint finish

Ian
