Final Final balance. Imoved some internal stuff
farther forward, completed the wiring for the 2 rx batteries
and fitted the top cover in place. (required removing material
where the turbine is)
Ichose to balance atthe rear surface of the front spar
since that is where my other one was!
Pics show how Ido this by placing an ALU bar
under the wing spars. The bars have a machined
channel so they lock onto the bottom of the spars and
the lift point is established using string looped through holes
in the bar right at the aft end of the front wing spars..
simple and effective. The front balance weight is now
down to 1.5 oz! makes me happy!!!

Thanks, the boomers are all good fun planes, the Torus
really looks cool with the wingtips installed and it takes off and lands like a dream!
Ihave more complicated planes with full gear doors, smoke systems, and more scale like
appearance BUTIalways gravitate back to this one for just fun, relaxing flying
Itried to post some good info here so anyone else can duplicate what Idid
it only added a week or so to the "build"!!!!!
If Ican Iwill post a video of this maiden...

SUCCESS I maidened it today... there is a definite difference between this plane and
my previous one. It seems to turn and roll better and it definetly climbs better!
Video to post soon...

geh3,jet looks great, flys great, great job, nice video....the little bloopers chalk up to first flight jitters lol......Man I did not want to get envolved with my XL with mods, just wanted to do a quick build and go have some fun.But your jet looks great with that 3'' plug insert...how would you think the XL would look?

Well it would look great and be easier to balance however Idon't remember needing any lots of extra weight up front in myXL
butIdid have to stuff all of my batteries up there. On my XL, the nose was not removable so Ihad to make a hatch. Anyway
it will fly great unstretched or stretched.

**the thing about the XL is that is has a LOTof wing area
SO a little or a lot of weight up front to balance does not significantly
hurt flight except perhaps for straight vertical climb with smaller turbines!!!

Iflew today ... WOW Ican take off and go straight up with "0"loss of speed
and the beast lands noticeably slower +takes off in less space
SO overall I am very happy with extending the fuse!!!

Iwill post a video when the weather gets better! The weather today was all cloudy
and misty so I had to be careful when zoom climbing...
BUTwhat a blast with a lighter plane...
