Mix
You must be dreaming!!!
JR and Futaba Radios operate completely different and are not interchangable. The servos are however. The throw will be in reverse direction and you must trim the side of the Futaba connector to fit the JR rx.
Save yourself a lot of trouble choose one brand and stick with it.
More champions fly Futaba than any other brand.

Upper/Lower band
Like some communication radios our radios are SSB (Single Side Band)
If I'm not mistaken, Futaba and Hitec use the lower side while Jr and Airotronics use the upper side.
Don't know about Multiplex.
That means that you can use a Hitec rx with a Futaba tx but not with a Jr tx.
My experience is with Futaba and Hitec only so I know you can mix those. I havn't tried Jr and I know Airotronics doesn't mesh with Hitec.

You are correct in that Futaba and JR receivers are not interchangable. However, third party receivers, such as Hitec and FMA, are available in versions that work with either Futaba or JR. One must specify which version one wants at the time of purchase.
