Default Engine Choice Great Planes Profile 38

I am building a Great Planes Profile 38, about 90% complete. I starting to doubt my engine choice. I have a pair of MDS .18 Pro engines for the P-38.

The MDS .18 have a crank size of 10-32. This is causing a problem as my spinners and props are 1/4", need to find spacers

This is my first twin. I have flown two other MDS engines and really haven't had a problem with them. The main thing this is buggy me is the crank size.

I your opinion should I get different engines?

thanks

I don't know about all brands, but the Du-Bro plastic spinners come with a selection of adapters to allow their use on almost any shaft size. These same spacers can be used to center the props on your MDS engines, so the 10-32 shaft shouldn't keep you from using them.

Thanks for the reply. I was going to go with Dubro spinners, but...went with the GP instead. Looks like the Dubros have the bushings I need.

I have placed the MDS .18's for sale on RCU. If they don't sell I will try the Dubro option. Much cheaper than going with Tru-Turn!

Thanks

Would you be interested in a pair of HB 0.25 engines? They have 1/4-28 threads on the cranks.

The pair I have is really too much for the plane they are intended for, the 0.18 engines would be a better fit.

These HB engines both have new rings, haven't been run since overhaul.

The HBs can be beam mounted, or bolted directly to the firewall in a radial mount. Only damage to the engines is the lower bottom radial mounting lug broken from one. But your plane wants beam mounting.

And the 0.25s would be bette on your plane than the 0.18s anyway.

Let me know if you're interested in a trade.
