Default Ultra Lightning w/JetCat 240

Ok so this will be interesting, Ultra Lightning w/JetCat p-240.

The P-240 is identical in size as the P-200 but puts out 58Lbs of thrust and has special ECU settings.

I will be using all 3 (total of 6.3 Liters of fuel) of the UL tanks as at full power the P-240 can sip up 30oz/min.

For servos I will be going with tried and true 7955 TG all the way around (May go with 7950 on the rudder)

Any build tips would be nice, I'm start on the left wing today and will post pics as I go along.

Why stop there, a B300F is the same size as the P200 (and therefor the P240) but with 300N of thrust minimum, thats around 67-68 lbs of thrust

Joking aside is the airframe up to this sort of power?

I can't see why not its only 6 lbs more than the p-200 and they have been flying around forever.

thats a good question, I don't know. This turbine is actually designed for military / drone use its not available to public regularly so they don't have posted specs. THE PRICE is actually very nice, still crazy high but I was surprised.

I will fire up the ECU and it will let me know what the max RPM is once I have the turbo on a test stand, but its set to 58LBS thrust.

Main differences are:

Larger compressor wheel, bigger combustion chamber. Amazing still can use the smally fuel pump as the p-200

What the heck, why stop there?
Rumor has it that Jet Central is contemplating coming out with a new behemoth of a turbine!
Rumor is it may be called the “Indricotherium†which was the largest land mammal to walk the earth!
Attached are some very preliminary photos, it is alleged that this beast will blow 150 Lbs (666 N) of thrust!

RCISFUN. . . .
Well, you have let the perverbial "cat out of the bag" (no pun intended toward our competition) however, only one of your two pictures is correct; that of the turbine wheel ! While the name "Indricotherium" is certainly fitting, I think our management team has come to agreement on the name. . .Behemoth which is certainly fitting. Nomenclature will be jf 370. . .following our jf 210.
BTW, thanks go to FMCC for developing the turbine wheel for this project.

We are looking for suitable airframes for testing at this point.

Cheers,
Eric

JetCat P400 was flying about 24K feet in the last couple of weeks on a special project.

get yours today!

I wonder if Yves Rossy is in the market for a couple....ROG maybe?

Cool news, Well I see people running A p-160 in the ultra flash so I don't think the P-240 would be too crazy, besides there is always the EPA setting so one could match the output of a p-200 easily...

Now with that said lets see the build process. I am no means a master builder, and as much as I like CARF planes I still believe they have some awkward construction techniques and the fact that there manual is quite outdated and WILL not work properly on an Ultra Lightning is really disappointing.

So we'll start with the wings:

Some notes:

1, The Lengths for the flap rod are TOO BIG and you have to mount the servo arm going DOWN not up.
2, Use the ball link side for the linkage, use the silver link on the servo horn.
3, Instead of destroying a perfectly good SWB arm, use the stock hitec blue arm and drill it out for 3.0mm
4, You'll need to cut a good bit of the skin if you want 45mm up / down travel on the ailerons
5, Instead of using the brass tubes, I used carbon fiber TUBE jb-welded to the 3mm all thread rod. THIS IS STRONG and will not slip like CA,
6, I put a small ply block made with 3 pieces of the included ply strip and put a screw in so that the door does not over-open as this can cause the closing mech to screw up push the door outwards more instead of closing it.
7, I drilled a small hole in the front rib to put the screws for the flaps, there is just no other way to screw on those other side servo screws.
8, DO NOT leave a 5-6MM space from the edge as stated in the manual, leave only 1-2mm otherwise the RETRACT WILL NOT CLOSE, I learned this the hard way and had to re-fill an re-drill new ones. with 2mm spacing the wheels easily go in without a problem.
9, spot-on wire keeps work good and leave enough clearance for the wheel.

You are wrong. The B300F weighs less than the P-200SX. B300F is 5 lbs 2.89 oz. The P-200SX is 5 lbs 8.48 oz. Moreover, at 52lbs (the stated max thrust of a P-200SX) the fuel economy is better with the B300f which is rated at around 22.82 oz per min at 52lbs of thrust VS the P-200SX that uses 24.7 oz per min at max thrust.

Andy,
I think you misinterpreted.
I think hes saying its only 6lbs more THRUST, (240 over 200), not that the BF300 weighs 6 lbs more!
The P200SX has been tested to 234.1N at 112,000 already, so the P240 isnt much of a stretch to get it up another measly 6 Newtons.
But 58lbs should actually be around 258 Newtons I believe.
Also, the BF website looks like it states 33.1 oz fuel per minute at full power. but thats at 300N!
Ill wait to see its review in Jet International. Ive only seen one so far and it flamed out and crashed. It sounded as real as it gets on takeoff though!!
$7100.00 bucks! ouch!

Scott, you are talking about the JC240 not the B300F here when you say 'flamed out and crashed'?

The B300F is a well tried unit with full certification for use in manned vehicle/aircraft.

Scott, I own one. The sound is incredible. It tried to push my bench which weighs over 100 pounds. Standing next to it at full throttle is terrifying lol. Yeah the fuel consumption is 33.14 oz per min at full throttle! I am using it in a jet that we were thinking about using a P-200 in. With lower weight and better fuel economy than the P-200 we decided to use the B300F instead.

Which jet had the P-200 in it??? Man I'm sorry to hear about your loss..
