Default Firewall protection

This is probably a dumb question, but I don't want to screw up. I just replaced the firewall in an ARF and I want to coat it with MinWax Polyurethane Clear. Is this stuff fuel proof??I'm using a DLE20 on the airplane.

Thanks in advance,

JimHouston

Polyurethane will work. Two or three coats. So will epoxy thinned a bit with denatured alcohol. I have used both. Gas engines aren't quite as bad as glow as far as messing up a firewall. Probably not enough oil to really soak the wood.

90 or 91 percent isopropal alcohol (rubbing alcohol) from the drug store will also work well to thin epoxy resin. More common 70 percent rubbing alcohol has
too much water in it.

Thanks for the replies. I have the Polyurethane, so I'll use that.
