RE: savage top speed
What tranny are you using? You need the 3spd with the optional high speed 3rd gear.
There is nothing special needed to mount the 45,44,43t flux spurs.
Heres the catch with trying to go fast...... You need torque. Yes the LRP 30 has torque but its not enough imo.
This is what you need to get your truck fast,
BP 3spd w/HS 3rd gear
Flux 44t Spur
19 or 20t clutch bell
Flux/ XL BP diffs- lowers the gear ratio making them much better for top end unlike the stock 43/13 gears
A nice low snug fit body
ERCM endbleed pipe...... trust me on this
Hpi Phaultlines that are belted
Good luck and Im very curious to hear what you reach

RE: savage top speed
I have the 2 speed I wasnt sure if the spur gears on the 3 speed were mounted different because the owner of my local hobby shop told me that there is no way it will fit .
I think the lrp.30 has enough torque imo
I happy with a top speed of about 55 so i think the lrp.30 will get me there in modded i already have that pipe
and im using e revo tires
Im going to buy the new spur today should i go with the 43 /44//45
My truck is one of the first savages it is barly a 1/8th scale i weighed it and im about 9.3 pounds

RE: savage top speed
The flux spur will fit on any of the savage trannys, there all the same mounting style
Try the 43t spur, but your going to need the 3spd tranny
Good luck reaching 55

RE: savage top speed
you gain more MPH when you change out the clutch bell vs the spur gear.
Your truck is going to be geared even higher thus resulting in loosing rpm up top. I have a feeling that yor going to actually loose speed

RE: savage top speed
HIgh speed needle and low speed needle
The low speed is right below where the throttle linkage is
the high speed is the screw coming out of the other side
Heres a pic
