JMP Firebird/GO FAST OR GO HOME!
Hi guy´s from flying Firebird´s, wish ask something to you.
I bought a new kit from Tom Cook and Peter Adolfs from PAF-Modellbau Germany build my Firebird in the next time in perfect conditions.
Additionel I bought a used Firebird from Norway. "Sorry for to have two in Germany" :-)
Now I may ask somthing about the flaps from the Firebird of Norway:
I saw that the bolds from the flaps under the wings from the fuselage at the same side (look at my photos please).
So the servo presses the flaps in, one side is perfect, the other side is near the fuselage to the flaps with a little gap.
I think it´s about the bold is not in the middle of the flap so as on the "right side".
Can I fly with this "flaw"?
Thank´s for help :-)))
Felix

Felix,
The tolerances are very tight, and sometimes paint thickness can be an issue in getting the flaps to retract fully without binding.Mine initially fried 8411's trying to compensate for that.We sanded a little clear to try to free them up,but eventually used hitec analog servos to solve the problem.
Definitely do not fly the airplane with asymmetric flap deployment. You will have to offset with aileron trim, which will be exacerbated at the high speed this airframe operates at.It would be preferable to adjust the "good flap" to droop evenly with the binding one.A tiny bit of flap deployment (a degree or two) will not degrade the airplanes performance at all.Take the time to get it right. The airplane is worth the effort. There is nothing else like it out there today.Reach out to me if I can be of any help.Good luck,
Erik

Hi Erik,
thank´s for your helpful information!
Ichanged all servos to Futaba BLS 452 for this Firebird, hopeit´s stronk enough.
Only for the elevator construct Peter for me two BLS 152 parallel.
Peter will have a look about a new bolt in the flap in position.
Iupload photo´s so it´s ready.

RE: JMP Firebird/GO FAST OR GO HOME!
for "LGM Graphix": This advice gave me a power user from Germany!
I understood so,if I make 4 or 5 flights behind one other, I can´t see about possible air in the tank/fuel system.
Air "in the fuel system", particularly in the hopper tank, is not so good I think :-)
With this hopper I can see after a flight, is air "in my system" or not.
(A collapsing is impossible with this system, I tested it in many jets.)
This option to look I haven´twith the JMP accumulator.

I love these Firebirds - it would be amazing to see three or four of them in a no BS all out big pylon race but of course would never happen here in the US as we have air that apparently collapses the wing spars and basic aircraft structure into baby powder when the plane goes over 200mph!! Nice jets.
