Default Multi-engine FUN FLY

I don't see any Multi-engine only events in the AMA mag. Is the demand for such an event lacking? Would you attend?

I'll be the President of our club after the club meeting in September this year. I'm looking for a few more sanctioned events for next year's flying season...

What would you want in a Multi-engine only event?

What kind of awards?

A good raffle plane?

What categories, or open to any multi?

If the response is good enough on here, I'll go forward with my plans to initiate a new club event. Please vote in my poll, and post any comments here in this thread for all to see...

Thanks!

Default Multi Fun Fly

categories???
Open to any twin or higher.
Warbirds, of course
Most unusual Bashed plane as there are few kits.
Fun flies for the P-38's and Morris type twins.
If this takes off, maybe most engines!!!!...now where is that five engined Kadett??? Opps!
Most number of flat spins!!! Remember that we can mix rudder (S) to the engines!!! Try that with a single!!!
Good Luck and keep us posted,
Twinman

Default Multi-engine FUN FLY

I feel a Multi event is a grand idea That Does have appeal and could well develop into an annual event. Most likely would have the widest appeal if it was kept a simple flyin. To limit catagorys of multis would probably be a mistake I would even make an effort to get some Ukie folks involved even if it was just a lunch time demo on the runway. A very wide variety of multi engined craft can be the the key to success in such an event.

Default Multi-engine FUN FLY

Twinman & John,

When I said categories, I meant what categories for awards...you know:

Pilot's Choice

Largest combined displacement

Most Cylinders

Fastest

Best Warbird

Best Electric

Those are just a few that come to mind, and by no means would I limit it to a particular category. I really think the "KCRC Multi-engine Warbird only that was built only during a Full Moon Fun-Fly" would be a big loser. I'd definitely open it to all multi-engine platforms.

Also, I think Kansas City is centrally located enough to draw from all over. Our upcoming Warbird Event (CLICK HERE FOR INFO ) has drawn from as far as the West Coast, and we get pilots from all the midwest states.

Keep the comments coming.....

Default categories vs money

I think this is a kick ***** idea... Yupp..

Now if I only had a twin to bring...

However, BalsaOvercast, all the categories you have listed
are basically "who has the most money to waste", categories..

While of course those are good categories, how about things as
smallest, slowest, etc ... Categories that us poooorr people can
compete for..
Now if you wanna do one for who has the most polished parts,
I'm game...

You need a couple more award categories, there Balsaovercast unit! Would you have plaques for each award module?

I read somewhere, Hobbico is repackaging the Twinstar for next year. Something to keep an eye out for your raffle plane needs. But, I wouldn't recommend keeping your eye out for too long. At some point it will hurt, and that would not be fun. You want this to be fun right?

Uhmmm.. welll,, lets see,, twinman.. I do have a full size
Dodge van, no rear seats, and
a few months to get my skanky butt cranking on some of those
mess's in the dungeon... Soooo... However many I can fit in
the ole van...
'sides,, what if I show'd with only one plane and something were
to happen to it,, Then what would I do the rest of the time there..

Hmm,, wonder how a Stinger 120 would fly with two US41's on it..?

BalsaOvercast
I just looked at the warbird advert you posted about..
As it is over could you answer a question..

Was the park district fee waived for visitors..?

The facility looks like an excellent facility to hold a meet..
http://kcradiocontrol.org

Should you wish to make this happen I'm [IN] [8D]

Well, The park didn't waive the fees this time, but then, we only joined the Par's new "RC Association" a couple weeks ago, and I'm sure the bureaucrats didn't have enough time to generate the necessary red tape. The fee was $5, but I'm assured our fees will be waived in time for next years events... These will include:

1. January 1st Icicle Fly
2. June Pattern Meet
3. September Warbird
4. Date to be determined 50 Year Club Anniversary Jubilee! A huge 3 day event
5. Date also to be determined Multi-Engine Fun-Fly.

I think it's a keeper of an idea, and I'll make it happen. Sometime in June, perhaps. If you guys know of conflicting dates of must-have events, let me know. I don't want to compete with TopGun, Joe Nall, Toledo, etc. I'd like to give it as good a shot as possible to succeed. June is not a given, though.

Thanks for the input so far. Keep it coming.

Hey balsaovercast,
Just curious, is your name modelled after the B-17 "Alluminum Overcast" Saw it at Oshkosh this year, could have gotten a ride for 250 bucks.

Robby... Thanks for the Internet Fly-In date. That one will be officially crossed off my dates.

Scale Jr. ... You are quite an astute young man. yes, I did glean my handle from that plane. I'm a huge warbird fan, and fly giant scale, so it was an easy jump to that name.

I'm glad to see there's still an interest in this thread. Does anybody else have dates next year for must-attend events I need to cross off?

Thanks!

John

Balsa is looking at June for this event... And being as it is
to be in June, you can make it with your planes... And yes,
alll of 'em ...

it's a keeper of an idea, and I'll make it happen. Sometime in June
