Default Spinners.....What do you think????

There was a thread on this before but I can't find it. Must have gotten deleted. Anyway I found a site that sells them for trucks (no cars) $70 for silver and $90 for chrome. Please give me your opinions on this product, pros and cons. Here's the link:

I agree. The gimmick is what got people on the 1:1 scale cars and trucks but the design is far from desirable. The Generation 2s came out not too long ago. They look a little better and the have some for motorcycles as well. Wonder if my "roommate" will go for it? I've talked with a couple of other people about making them for RCs. So far trucks is the only available. Wonder how long for cars and if the design will be improved.

Anyway back on subject. I wonder how much speed it would take to get the spinners to spin on stop they should have a video. Just wondering im not really goin to buy those money wasters.

They would be cool on touring cars though. True, the design needs a little refining, but you have to admit, the idea of spinners is cool.

I'd guess it depends on the quality of the bearings.

It wouldn't take much speed if the bearings provide very little friction. The more friction they create, the more speed you'll need to keep them spinning and the quicker they'll stop...

The originals 1:1 scales are set on a bearing with high grade grease, sealed. They spin almost effortlessly. ( I know someone with some, cost him $15,000, Gen 1) In the video on the site, the truck couldn't have been going more than 20 mph. If they followed the original concept then they should spin easily as well. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to bash with those on, for show only. I can guarantee that it will cost almost twice as much for 1/10 touring cars for the simple fact that machining a mechanism that small would be costly. For that I don't think it would sell. Who the heck would spend $90 for a set of rims you can' t run on? Much less some that cost more. I don't think anyone from the RC hobby just bought their car, boat, plane, truck, heli, etc just to sit it on the shelf and look at it. I know bought mine to play with. Hell, the initial purchase and the engines cost too much now. IMO, hats off to the "inventor" of the RC scale, but to much bling bling for my pockets.

Looks like a waste of money on real cars, and a bigger waste on RC.
