Default Worlds most upgradable vehicle..... Slash 2wd

I'm gobsmacked about how many upgrades are available for the slash 2wd. You can nearly replace every part with aftermarket parts.

There is things like...
oil filled diffs, Ball diffs, lockers
alloy and alloy reinforced plastic gearbox housings
metal and plastic gears
Aftermarket slippers
Alloy and plastic gear covers
heaps of axle options, from CVD's to telescopic
wheel hex adapters
Various alloy and plastic suspension and steering components including ones with different geometry
Heaps of different chassis styles and makes
tyres and wwheels even body options.

honestly I cant think of another RC car that has this amount aftermarket support, even traxxas them self has some great upgrades....

Have guys seen Traxxas latest upgrade for the slash 2wd?
its the X-01 style telescopic metal axles.... $60 for the pair. Very good price compared to MIP's Telescopic ones.
those bad boys should even keep the critics happy.

i love the idea of a axle with a sealed uni joint. Great way to keep grease in and dirt out.... I bet they are not as light as the Tekno racing shafts but I bet they would last 10x longer and they don't need servicing as often.

Hummmm... Maby....good point. It would be a close one for sure.

i have noticed one thing, can't comment on baja parts. But compared to other cars ive found the slash parts are nearly always available, even way out here in Australia. Axial SCX10 parts... Different story

im sure you can replace every part with a different make on the rustler bandit and stampede 2wd & slash 2wd in some ways it's good but in a way it's bad as they won't make something different.

actually id say the clodbuster is the worlds most upgradable vehicle. it's easily possible to build one using 100% aftermarket parts. i remember 15 or so years ago there were a good 15 or so aftermarket chassis' available. at least 3 gearbox's available. i don't remember much in the tire category but i do remember a good amount of rims. it had a healthy selection of bodies. the truck had endless custom steering and suspension set ups. and unlike the paint by numbers slash, a lot, if not most owners scratch built parts for there trucks on top of all the aftermarket. so not only might it be the most upgradable, it may also be the most customizable. not to mention the performance comparison between a stock clod and a mod clod is probably the biggest performance gain in industry history.

Think you can do a slash out of 100% aftermarket parts.
I think I once saw after market tranny gears for it even someplace.

An HPI Savage can also be built out of 100% aftermarket parts.

Isn't it funny, we talk about having a good aftermarket as being a good thing for a truck, right? So the Xray cars must be terrible. Almost no aftermarket parts at all. lol. There's a lesson in there somewhere.

Same with the ones Ofna sells
I think the SCRT, and nex10 have the most aftermarket out of Ofna vehicles, and those were just a hand full of parts by one place.

I'd say the RC10GT vies for that title. You can build one completely from aftermarket parts, except for the chassis plate itself.
