Needing advice on my ~15 year old HPI Nitro RS4 2
I am needing advice on my Nitro RS4 2 car with .15 engine and 2 channel remote system. I built this car myself I am guessing about 15 years ago and I still have it. I took pretty good care of it then, then came children. It's been in storage for about 10 years now though and I just took it out. I started to take it apart but I got concerned because it has been so long since I have messed with it. I never officially raced it just played with it on parking lot surface and serveral times on dirt road. No rough stuff though. Anyway, I was concerned because I put it together but I never had to take it apart and during that time, I never had problems with it. Now it's been so long and I am worried some of the parts that were snap on, if I would be able to pull them apart. Also, lets go back to the beginning, the car has not been run in so long and it seems some of the parts are getting old. The belts seem like they need replacing because they may be dry and the hoses too. The tank might have had gas left in it when it was put away so it seems it needs either cleaning or replacing. The on/off switch seems to be stuck in the off position. And the pull cord seems hard and not easy to pull to start. Probably also needs replacing. Going through all this that I could see just off the top, there may be lots more, but I need to, I guess take it apart to figure if all parts are functioning as they should and be smooth movements. I still have the manual so I can probably backtrack from the last step and come backwards while I remove parts. Does anyone have any advice for me doing this?
Also, while I am at it, does anyone recommend upgrading any parts to what they think would be better than what was supplied at that time in this kit?
Thank you all. I hope someone can hold my hand while I am attempting to take this car apart. It's scary. It was my pride to have built it. It's hard to take it apart because it means a lot to me. And not being able to put it back together breaks my heart. I will also be teaching my 10 year old son to take down and put together this car with your help I hope.

I'm in the kind of same boat. I have an RS4 Rally (yes, the touring car offered as a rally car) that needs a good amount of stuff.

Just don't lose any screws, and you'll eb fine. Or, you can take it to a hobby shop near you. They can probably rebuild it for you.
