Tamiya 1/10 Subaru Impreza WRC 2008 Rally DF03Ra
Has anyone bought one of these? (Tamiya 1/10 Subaru Impreza WRC 2008 Rally DF03Ra) I just bought the kit from Tower Hobbies and was wondering how people liked them? I will run it stock and if it's not fast enough Ill add a spare Motiv ESC and 5700KV motor I have laying around
I have always loved Rally cars and they seem to be getting more popular so what the heck it's only money [X(]

I own one and it is a heck of a chassis. Just don't expect it to do any hardcore off roading as it has a little more ground clearance that a standard touring car. There is a thread here that you should go through with a lot of useful tips. For Hop Ups I recommend the aluminum heat sink, aluminum drive shaft and slipper clutch. You should also make sure you run a decent metal gear servo with some nice torque. I use the Futaba S3305 and a nice servo saver. I use this one http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXS361&P=7

I own one too and Willystylz and Casper06 gave me a lot of very good tips...I bought 2 Tamiya WRC Monte Carlo bodies since I don't favor the hatch. It also makes an excellent drift car btw!
Mine is completely waterproof...submerged it into a pond twice and still kept running! Also many mud/rain/sand/gravel runs. Here's some ideas...pearl body with no wing is my bashing body.

Yup me and my buddy race his TT-01 rally conversion car with a custom lexan tub and plate and softer suspension. He has an old Lancia hatch body on his.

Can anyone tell me if the Kit comes with a LED light set and Light buckets? If not where can I get the light buckets for it? Thanks.

I know the 2008 STi hatchback came with light buckets but you'll need to order LED's. Not sure about the 2007 model though.

Well I built it in about 5 hours and that includes painting the body. This was one of the simplest builds ever! I ended up using the stock ESC and motor for now and will decied latter if I want to add brushless set up. Thanks everyone for the help and pictures! Here is what I looks like, I might get a different body since the hatch back is not my favorite but it might grow on me. I used what paint I had laying around.

Looks good Grim you'll really like this chassis. Next time you should paint the inside black to make it look even more scale. I picked up that tip up courtesy of Skottoman he does some awesome paint jobs. The only thing with that though is that with any light color if you just back it with just black it will take away from its brightness so you would have to go silver then black.

This is what happens when you mix RC cars and bare feet! I was home today because my back was all jacked up from my 6-7 hour build yesterday and I got bored so I went outside to run my RC and figured I would not put on shoes, Bad idea! I was just tooling around and drove me car past my feet as I was sitting on a brick wall and the car hit my foot. The strange thing was it was not that hard of a hit but my big toe nail pulled 90% off. The foam bumper and plastic support pice was what hit and my nail went between the foam and plastic. OUCH! I had to pull it off with some Hobby gade (of course) pliers!
I did add more stickers to the WRC car and I realy like it now. It sets the paint off a lot better and the stock electronics are perfect for this car. I am glad I didn't add Brushless or I would of lost the whole foot!

Holy crap that is GROSS! LOL I lost a finger nail once and that was not fun I can't imagine the big toe. I hope you can wear flip flops to work and taking showers is gonna suck until that thing scabs over. [:@]

Does the lexan chassis cover, not the body, come with the Tamiya kits? I want to buy one of these Rally cars as long as they have the shroud that covers the electronics.

I have one also and i love it.
I run a Mamba 5700 combo and a 2s lipo. When running a BL, the slipper clutch is a must have upgrade. The rest of my chassis is stock, but i will slowly be adding more upgrades soon.
I also use a Dark Impact inner body, then my body.
Like someone send above, dont expect to do heavy off roading with it. It has more ground clearance than a touring car, but its not meant for heavy off roading or high grass. I run mine in parking lots or light dirt roads.
I will post pics of it tomorrow.

I got mine used and the diffs screwed up and i can figure out whats wrong. I think im going to get a Slash 4x4 and make it a rally car, as it is waterproof, better offroad, and more durable :P

I currently am trying to build on this chassis. TA03R. It's a 4wd belt driven car. I bought years ago and it came as a Avex dome mugen NSX (tamiya) I'm trying to see if the Subaru impreza wrc 2008 hatch back body fits this chassis. Any help would be appreciated. And also where can I buy this body it seems hard to find. New to the forums. Any help would be appreciated. Thx.
