So here goes.

I have a new HB that I have all set up and spinning. Here is the set up

2 HS-55's
1 Feather Single conversion RX
1 370 High Performance Motor
1 Tail Heat sink
1 Main Heat sink
1 shaft collar mod
1 Ball in swash mod
Standard Battery (switching to 3 Cell 1200 mAh Li-Po soon!)

Question is this;

As soon as the throttle hits half, the servos begin to jitter.[:@] Originally the aileron servo (next to the motor) was really bad. It would swing almost 180 degrees rapidly. [:@] I replaced it with a new one and it quieted it down a bit. I then rerouted the aerial so as to minimize the possibility of interference there.

Could it be the single conversion RX is picking up RF from the motor as it spins faster? Seems that as the motor spins faster, the servos jitter more. Should I get a dual conversion and see if it goes away? Is it something else I am missing?

Other than that, this thing is a blast.

I have the same exact electronics as you and i dont get any servo jitter. Make sure your antenna is far away as possible from the main motor and keep it away from any DC power lines from the ESC.
How do you have your antenna configured? Do not wrap it around the carbon tail boom because it may cause interference. Some guys on here wrap their antenna around a plastic straw and let it hang. Hope this helps.

I have a similar setup but am using separates and had a similar problem. I found that if the speed control is too close to the receiver you get this problem about 1/2 throttle. Move them away and all is OK.

i also get this problem , but usualy only when the batterys nearly depleated , i have my speed controler next to my rx and never have a problem, hope you get it sorted!

I found the problem.

THe RX airial was to close to the DC outputs from the hummingboard. I flipped it over and all was well.

Suggest 2 cell 1200 instead if you are going to stay with that setup.

Actually, I went with a 2 S 1500 HC from kokam and now I get 40 mins with a 5 min break at 20 min

Ya, I am looking at those too. As I understand it you can charge them in half the time as the other LiPo's?

That I don't know. I am sticking with 1C to be safe.

Man this thing is fun!

Flew it at school between desks tonight. Frightened/enternained a few guys there. Was a blast!

I did notice one thing though. Seems my RF is gone, but every so often (rarely) the main motor drops RPM's suddenly and then goes right back up. Almost like a hit, but I seem to not really notice adverse effcts and maintain good control even as it happens.

ANy thoughts?

Hi guys,

My Hummingbird started glitching & I changed everything except main motor. The carbon part of the motor brush had fallen off & was running brass on brass and was causing the glitching. When the brass wore through the brush arm flicked across & touched the other brush, one toasted speed controller. Worth a look to check your brushes?

I was wrong. You can not charge the Kokam 1500 at a faster than 1C rate. However Kokam does have new batteries out that you can charge at a 2C rate. But as you can see, they are still way expensive:

The motor problem might be the 370. Since you have done the shaft mods, that can be ruled out. A good brushed alternative is th Acro280BB. I am using it and love it, but plan to go brushless this month.

Anyway, I just wanted to correct myself asap. Glad you did not listen to me
