Default Air Power EV-1u Leaking

My brake valve leaks, it slowly hisses regardless of PSI and I go to max of 100 PSI. I ensured out is out, in is in according to the manual. I cycled it. The brakes are connected.
Any tricks to fix it like the UP6?
It seems 90% of my air leaks are with a brake valve.

I had the same issue with two. It would leak constantly with power on or off. I eventually pulled it and replaced it with a UP6. I went from getting three brake actuations with the EV1 to over 20 with the up6 and same size tank.

Thanks Erik.

I lost 50% of its air pressure after 10 minutes, a normal size robart air tank. One thing I noticed is even at 20 psi to the valve will still actuate the brakes. The Up6 does not work much below 50-60 psi.
So if I land with 50 PSI this valve will work, so maybe I can live with it.

Unfortunately, this valve came free in a skymaster kit so I dont think Todd can help me. Do these have a lifetime warranty like the UP6?

I had issues with my electronic brake valve also. After a couple days of froggin' around, I ordered a UP6 and never looked back. I get about 50+ stops now.

You could try removing the two air nipples and inspecting them. If over tightened they crack on the thread and leak.

The valve works proportionally by constantly pulsing off air (like an ABS Brake system). Only thing is, the air bled off is lost. I put mine on the shelf to remind me about the dangers of buy a completion package w/o researching each component. Maybe someone can tell us how to make the thing work proportionally w/o bleeding off an entire tank to make two stops. One of our guys just uses his in the non-proportional mode and greases the brake shoes. Personally, the UP6 or the BVM component is a better way to go. Someone want to buy my Air Power Brake valve?

Just FYI I have had leaking issues with my UP6. I can get it to stop but it randomly will leak out the vent hole. I guess the piston gets stuck or something.

Have you been lubricating it?

Todd will help you out. He is the AirPower service center. I had one which I got (EvoPro-5) in a apcakage deal from BVM. I had issues, orf my own making, and returned it to BVM. They sent it to Todd who called me and helped me sort out the problem. he is the service center, he won't care where you got it. He is as good as they come.

An interesting thing is that it stopped leaking. I hate that. I'll send it in, no leaking found. Then I'll go to fly and it will leaking. I think brake valves hate me!
RE: UP6 lubrication.

Per "P&J Soden" [email protected]

"Joey,
If you have nothing connected to the output port I would expect it to leak, the valve needs the back pressure to work. Either connect a pressure gauge or brake to the port and you will find all OK. DO NOT TAKE APART.
Regards
Philip
Please phone tomorrow if still have problems"

I had a converstation with him about the leaking. I found out itn eeds back pressure. In another email he tells me to pressureize the output port to get the plunger unstuck.

How are you lubricating this and with what? Taking it apart void warranty...

My brand new UP3 was leaking. After spending Hours checking out everything but the valve (since there directions make it seem like their valves never leak), i pulled the valve out and pulled all the plungers from the valve body. I found in the main body a piece of lathe shaving in the main plunger that span'd across one of the o-rings on the plunger allowing the valve to leak constantly. This is the second UP valve i have bought new with this problem.

With your up6 leaking all the time, i would suggest pulling it apart to check to make sure you dont have the same problem.

The UP6 I have did not leak for a long time. Then it started leaking after sitting for the winter. I got it stop again.

I will call Todd at dreamworks for the valve.

The Up6 does not work much below 50-60 psi.
If you push the cylinder/plunger in far enough on the UP6 valve you get full system pressure to the brakes. I had weak braking on my YA F-15 till I added more "stroke"
