Kenair, I have been having good luch with a APC 17x8 at around 7800 rpm. I only put 1 gallon through it. I ended up destroying my plane on Saturday and I just sold the MVVS to a buddy.

Good plugs for the engine are:
Champion DJ7J (hot) DJ6J (cold)
The end connector plug has to be sawn off flush with the flange, like the brisk.
If you cannot obtain them, I have them in stock.

no unlimted vertical but I can do a vertical climb to about 400'
June 24,
I am still pleased with the engine, the Sig Cap is a bit too much airframe for the motor, it is turning 8200 to 8400 on a Bolly 16x10.
If I was a newbie it would seem adequate but I find myself flying at 3/4 to full throttle most of the time. A ten to twelve pound airframe, would be better rather thatn my 13.5 pound CAP.
I picked up a 72" IMP spitfire kit that I will put one of my MVVS 1,6 into.

MVVS 1.60
I have a world models 1/4 scale clipped wing cub with a MVVS 1.6 gassser on. Had been running a APC 18x8 prop, flew good, a little faster than a cub should, LoL. Had a 3 blade 16x10 just begging to be used, figured what the heck lets see how this puppy pulls a 3 blade, WOW what a difference.
I had always heard these MVVS like to be loaded down, and she does, matter of fact some say a 16x10 is minimum prop for this llittle beast. Remember these are gasoline engines, not glow the RPM's probably should not be in the 8K and up range. I had one die running in the upper 8's, LoL.
Before I could just barely eeek out a loop, with the 3 blade I can pull 3 loops continuously. Its a blast to see the ole cub perform with this prop.
If ya want better performance from your MVVS try playing with 3 blade props and see what ya can do with your scenario.

Flew with an APC 17x8 on the MVVS red head, taching at 8500rpm on the ground and running 40:1 Pennzoil, have about 1.5 gallon through the engine. I expect another 300 to 400 rpm when I switch to Amsoil 50:1

Visioneer one,
I am interested in how this engine performs on your stick 120.. I have one stick with a os 160 fx. I have another I am planning to enter into the gas world with. I like the MVVS 160 red head. Please let me know what the results are of your setup.
thanks,
Richard,

Who sells the red head in the U.S.?
How much does it weigh and what are the dimensions?
What rpm does this engine spin a 16X8 APC? Is it more than 9000 like the RCS 140?
Thanks

www.morrishobbies.com sells the mvvs red head. a 16x8 is not enough prop for that motor. I was spinning an 18x6 pro zinger at 7750 right out of the box, I am sure it would spin a 16x8 as fast as a rcs but it would definitely out perform the rcs with the bigger props. With the motor ignition and the muffler it was 44.5 oz not too bad at all.

The only problem I see with the Mvvs 160 is the carb is very close to the prop and fitting it into a cowl could be tough. Does anyone know the dimensions from the centerline of the crank to the top of the spark plug cap?

I do not think I can burn an ounce a minute, maybe .75 ounce at full throttle, I'm using a 12oz tank in the Laser 200.
I put a 1/4 to 3/8" thick spacer on the prop hub to push the spinner back plate out a bit from the carb, the threaded protion of the crank is quite long and can accomodate a spacer.
Height from c.l. to top of head is ~ 3.875" plus the spark plug cap, hard measuring as the engines are cowled in.
I flew the Cap 232 with the red head with a Menz S 17x8, rpms at 7700.
Last week I test flew the 1/4 Lanier Laser 200 with my older MVVS 1.6, all up weight 11.6 pounds, flew very nice, lands like a ***** cat,
I used the stock black steel muffler in the Laser 200, plugged up the horizontal outlet and brazed in two 1/2"0d pipes in the bottom, works quite well.
my flying buddy just ordered a new 1.6 red head to replace the OS 120-4C in his laser 200. Mine has the blue trim.
