Exclamation Need help on Zenoah G20EI engine timing.

HI everyone, I've got a Hangar 9 1/4 scale cub with a Zenoah G20EI and every time I go to start it, it kicks back like there's no tomorrow. I had a prop strike with it last July and ever since then I have to close my eyes, flip the prop, and hope my fingers are still on my hand. From what I have researched, a prop strike can change the timing? I've watched so many youtube videos and read so many forums on how to find the timing, but none show me how to set the timing back to factory setting(28dgrs) in this case. Can anyone help me out with this??
Any response is greatly appreciated.

Regards, Antonio

Here is a commonly used popular video that seems pretty easy to understand:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBXFpxWg7vY

And if you do a search here on RCU for a thread called "Free Degree Wheel" made by me, there is a nice degree wheel I made that you can download and print. I don't remember if I posted it in "Gas Engines", or "Engine Conversions", but it's one of those two.

Here are to different ways to do it.

If you are getting kick back the your hub has moved or have a bad ignition.

Sorry there BadAzzMax. I forgot your site has a good treatise on the subject.

Thank you guys for such a quick response!!!
Av8tor1977- I've already seen the video you linked several times on youtube and still no closer to solving my problem. The pickup sensor on my engine is not movable unlike the one in the video. I understand how to find the timing, I just need to know how to put the timing back to factory setting (28dgrs) without have an adjustable pickup sensor.
BadAzzMax- I'm almost 100% sure that the hub has moved since it started kicking back immedietely after my prop strike. Any idea on how I can move it back where it should be, or how to tell if it has moved at all??
Again I greatly appreciate everyone's help!!

Thanks, Antonio

I had a ground strike problem too.
I ended up making a bracket to move the fixed straight down timing bracket about 35 degrees
I set the timing to 28* BTDC.

Take off the prop hub and pull the flywheel. Replace the woodruff key reinstall parts and you should be ready to go.

Yep. And if you don't want to order a key and wait for it, you can get them at a hardware store.
