Hi,
I bumped into this photo of a very nice plane of the A-37 DRAGONFLY which took part in the BEST IN THE WEST 2002 event.
Anybody has any details of this plane and its maker?
Thanks

My Feedback: (2)
Reuben,
The model is manufactured for Golden West Models. Tad designed it. I spoke with him about it last week when I called to order some HotSpot stuff. He said he can fly it on a pair of JetCat P-80's and is planning to attempt flight with a pair of MW-54 class engines soon. It comes largely pre-built, justifying the price tag, and apparently its a real floater. A little too big for my blood, but very cool none the less...

The Drgonfly is made by Golden West Models and their website is "www.goldenwestmodels.net" also you can see plenty of pics of the plane at "airrayinc.com" . Just goto the gallery, jets, VI. You will see the pictures from Best of the West. The green camo one is my and it is powered by 2 JetCat P-120s. The gray one belongs to Tad the owner of Golden West. I have not had a chance to fly mine yet, but everyone who has flown the other prototype says it the easiest turbine to fly. I will take off in 45 feet from a stand still and floats on in. This plane has great presence both on the ground and in the air.

Rueben,
the plane is imposing for sure, but when you see it fly, gentle as can be. so much wing area and relative drag from from all the surface area, so that when you come off the power, it does a predictable job of bleeding off airspeed. These two aircraft though being the prototypes, carry some scale characteristics on touch down, in that the enertia from all that umm mass (weight??), requires a good amount of roll out. Take offs are quite the opposite though, pour on the coals, and you are in ground effect in no time flat, continue at the same power setting you are in a flying condition in less than 500 feet.
Now to hit the lottery..............
