Remote operated ball valve
#5
I think it was in the UK or somewhere in Europe that the separate remote ball valve was required. Not sure if it still is but someone will probably chime in.
There are some old posts somewhere that show how many have done it.

You'll have to copy and paste. I dont understand why rcu doesn't allow links...

Weird, it automatically inserts/formats/displays the links when I paste a URL. Are you on the mobile site perhaps?

I'm on the desktop version for a mobile phone but not the mobile site . Strange. It does the same thing to me on a PC though.

So feeling a little stupid. After looking at the example posted available at PerthRC and seeing part of it looking 3d printed. I decided to check Thingiverse and low and behold....

The nice thing is I know sketchup well enough to mod it for my needs.
I will post what I come up with.

To answer your original question - yes, I use servo operated ball valves.
A requirement for turbine operation in Australia (since no longer required) was a method of remote shutting
down of the engine independent of the ECU. This resulted in availability of all sorts of gadgets to cut the power
supply to the pump. Also required is a manual fuel shut off to the turbine - a ball valve.
A friend who got me interested in jets thought why not just put a servo on the same ball valve. The servo will drive
the valve shut in an emergency but still let it be used manually to open or close. The servo will not open the valve
again, pointless really once the engine has shut down.
Simple to make using readily available parts.
