Update for the Eliminator Air Race of October 2, 2022
Some have requested that a Platinum class and / or Unlimited class be added to Warbird racing events. Although there has been much debate over the years, we have decided to “test the waters”. At the Eliminator Air Race of October 2, 2022 we will take Preregistrations for either a Platinum class (1:20 breakout) or an Unlimited class (no breakout) or both. To register please email me at [email protected]. I will then post the registered pilots on the WarbirdRacing.org website. Entry fees and prize money will be discussed between those that enter the race.
Additionally, we are contemplating the idea of running 2 races on the weekend of October 1-2, 2022. Saturday we will host a standard Eliminator event; 3 rounds of Qualifying and then Eliminations. Sunday we will reset and run a new Eliminator race; 3 rounds of Qualifying and then Eliminations. This means that you will have 2 opportunities to win an event. Or if you are good enough, you can win both events. Each event will have its own entry fees and prize monies. We feel that this will add value to your investment for a weekend of racing. One key factor to this decision, is the electric timing system.
That brings us to an update on the development of the electric timing system. We have completed a test heat (with one airplane) where the prestart clock, staging clock and all 10 laps were completed without having a lap judge push a timing button. With a proof of concept in place we have ordered the hardware needed to implement this concept. We should have a working start finish line within a month.
Currently we have 22 entries for this event. I know it’s early, and some plans may change, but preregistration is very helpful when planning these events.

Update for the Eliminator Air Race of October 2, 2022
We have decided to keep this event a one-day race, Sunday October 2, 2022. Currently we have 34 entries and I know more are coming. If you have not registered, please do so soon. If you need help registering, feel free to call or email [email protected]
Electronic timing system: we currently are testing and working out the details on the electronic timing system. We are very close to having a working system in time for the race in October. We will have 50 transmitters at the race, the system has been integrated to the existing timing system. This means that at any time, even during a heat, we can switch to pickle pushing, if needed. Attached is a photo of the transmitter that will go in your airplane. They are powered by an open slot on your radio.
Additionally, we have a sponsor for the upcoming Eliminator Races. We want to thank Robins Hobbies. They have supplied us with 27 Gallons of Race fuel (50% and 66%). Silver and Gold finalists will receive a gallon of fuel for the next 3 events. Once again, we want to thank Robins Hobbies in Glendale.
