Default Sig Kadet Mark II Kits

This is my first post on the RCU forum. I've been looking to get involved in RC and have been looking for a Sig Kadet balsa kit to get started. In case anyone else is looking there's a vendor on Ebay (RC Hobby Experts) that has them available. I just ordered one of their Kadet kits. They initially had six available but are now down to three. It looks like a good deal for $108. Check it out if interested!

The Kadet Mk II is often overlooked and today many aren't familiar with it. I've had several of them, the last one used as a trainer that was way overweight (like 1.5 lbs over weight...) when given to me. Power was an old HB .40 and it was still over powered.I did a lot of my early flying on .35 powered Kadet (pre-Mk I with no ailerons) back in the mid 1970's.

Follow the instructions and you'll end up with a good flying model.

For power you don't need anything more than a OS FP-40 or LA-40. An old OS FP-35 will also work great and they are cheap on ebay. If anybody says to put a .46 ball bearing engine on it (OS .46ax, etc.), dont! That is way too much power for this plane.

Ailerons are not that responsive so if you have a radio that will couple two channels, couple aileron and rudder together on the aileron stick.

I still have an original 1972 kit of the Kadet (original before the Mk I and no aileron option) with a vintage OS FP-35, a Kadet Juinior kit and Kadet Senior kit and an LT 40 ARF. I can't remember not having at least one Kadet in the stable for many years.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the response and advice, It's been about thirty years since I last put a flying model together. I did one with my son and we flew it on a control line a few times before totaling it in a crash. Anyway, I've decided to get back into it and had been reading up on trainers and scouring E-bay looking for a Kadet when a timely ad from RC Experts caught my eye. It looked looked like a good deal and I received it two days ago. I've been studying the plans, etc. and look forward to the build. Thanks for the information.

FYI - the ebay seller runs a local Minneapolis/St.Paul hobby shop called "Big Sky Hobbies", a small but absolutely stuffed to the brim store with all the traditional RC items one would ever need. A fantastic resource, and one I buy from often.
