brison 5.8 on H9 33% extra?
looking at this combo. i notice that alot of people are using DA's or ZDZ's. how dependable are Brisons? for the money i can't go wrong.
how would the 33% extra perform with the Brison 5.8 (95cc, 6 Lb. 9 horse). plenty of power i'm sure but what about wheight or any other issues?
thanks

I have a Brison 6.4 on my H9 Extra and it's plenty of motor. It's a fine motor, though not as "state of the art" or light as some of the newer ones. I purchased mine used and it's been a good motor, though I had to purchase a new ignition module from CH.

I had the plane you are talking about, with a brison 5.8. My 5.8 pulled it unlimited, and it weighed around 27lbs. Its plenty of motor. I used a mejzlik 26x10, and a menz 26x10. Some big singles shake really bad, mine was pretty smooth. This was the older style Extra. The newest H9 Extra is a lot lighter, and is better suited for a zdz 80, or 100cc twin, ie 3W, DA, or BME.

I have owned 4 Brisons and loved them all-I think the 5.8 would be a LOT better choice than the GT80 boat anchor that the instructions show bolted up. Brisons have given me nothing but trouble free service for years.
We flew one on a H9 Taylorcraft today (2.6-no longer made by them) and it flew perfectly.

I have a Brison 5.8 on my GSP.com Edge 540. This is one smooth sweet engine! Swings a 3W 26X10 at 6400. I'm going to try a Biela 27X10 after a few more gallons of fuel. I don't run the 100:1 mix that Brison recommends, I use Amsoil 2000 at 64:1. Mine has the mechanical advance ignition system as well. My Edge weighs 28.4lbs and I have unlimited vertical.
