Sounds like a quick one to me! It's all relative! I have an unfinished 182 I started a month before grandson No. 3 was born, he and the project just turned 11 years old!

I took the Mystic to the flying field this afternoon to run-in the engine. It ran well with very few adjustments. I ran a tankful of fuel through it at various rpm then went for a beer with other club members, Afterwards I restarted the engine and then thought, "We didn't win two world wars through being too cautious", so despite some reservations about the puny tail wheel assembly I took off and the model was absolutley gorgeous in the air despite the over-sized engine! It just went where I put it! Much easier to fly than my ARTF Calmato Alpha! However, when I tried a loop the engine cut and although the model glided on well it ended up in the two metre high maize crop (American corn) which abutts the runway. Mind you I managed to find it!

Further running in and a few adjustments are still required but I'm absolutely delighted with the model, It's not at all intimidating,

Pictures are sure to follow courtesy of the club treasurer.

Pictures from yesterday. I will fit the cowling once the engine is run-in.

This man was a native of California who volunteered to serve in the British Army. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid...83323427158424His gravestone is unusual in that it is made of Red Sandstone instead of the more usual Cotswold Stone. AFAIK there is only one cemetery on the Western Front where the grave markers are in sandstone, it's at Auchonvilliers. I have visited it but cannot immediately find it amongst my pictures. Quite why they were never changed to Cotswold Stone, I do not know. Sandstone is a much softer stone than Cotswold Stone.

Thank you for your service young man.

Second Lieutenant Butter's sandstone grave marker was among many shown below near Auchonvilliers in the Somme Region. More usually Commonwealth War Graves Commission grave markers are made from a white Portland Stone as shown in the last picture. The graves in this picture are of Serre Road No 2 Cemetery, the largest British military cemetery in France.

A lovely day where the only real concern is getting your airplane into the air.

Those lightweight F/F's fly slow enough and are light enough, I seriously doubt much harm if in case it did strike someone. A greater concern would be an OOS (out-of-sight) flight. But thanks for sharing, Telemaster. Enjoyed the "care-free" environment, a throwback to the yesterdays, enjoying life and the thrill of coming home feeling satisfaction watching these take to the skies, looking forward to the next flights.

ODD! my system works quite well elsewhere but not here, Here I cannot post pictures though I did in the past, and my post act strangely. It has gotten to the point where I avoid this site. and have considered leaving it all together. If this site is in the middle of updates or some form of changes, OK, but a response from the moderators is expected. I have tried to modify my system to be compatible but I will only go so far as this isn't the only site I visit.

It appears to me those in charge don't give a hoot about the users feelings. I have truly enjoyed this thread but I am having problems tolerating the changes

Regrettably I may have to exercise other options (no threat intended)

Hi guys its been quite a while that ive been here for! I ve been building and flying model airplanes for almost 50 years and I have to say that last few months have been so fun. I rebilt my kaos and was flying almost every weekend for 3 months but I knocked the tail off last week trying to rebalance her after I knocked the weight off in dead still landing. so now I have to repair it plus I am now building 5 different airplanes! i was trying to fly this Sig Kavalier the other day and it did not go well as you can see. The green and yellow monokote is so old that the outside covering came off when I took off! thank you
Michael Johnston

this happened when my nose wheel came off yikes 1

great post guys

Good day gentlemen!

I'm pleased to see that at least one of you has been flying.

I flew the Mystic last weekend but have not flown during the week because I have been busy repairing or preparing models for next weekend when we have a big weekend at the club. People will expect to see the Big Guff and the BE2e so I've been doing a little work on them. We will also have a local Baron competition so my Baron needs to be checked over.

Throughout July and August I was wearing tee shirts, shorts and sandals all the time but since the 1st September it's as if someone has flipped a switch and long sleeves and long trousers have been the order of the day. Heavy rain is expected throughout the weekend so I'll stay in doors and get on with finishing off an Auster I was given over ten years ago. I'm hoping to finish it in the colours of the aircraft shown below. I hope that my clubmate Ludo will be able to spray the red and blue stripes for me. He works for the local VW agency repairing the bodywork of cars which have had a bit of a scrape.

I'm also organising an Open Mic Night on 14th so I'm going to be busy next Saturday.

Something worth repeating:
THE JOY OF GETTING OLD
1. When one door closes and another door opens, you are probably in prison.

2. To me, "drink responsibly" means don't spill it.

3. Age 60 might be the new 40, but

9:00 pm is the new midnight.

4. It's the start of a brand new day, and I'm off like a herd of turtles.

5. The older I get, the earlier it gets late.

6. When I say, "The other day," I could be referring to any time between yesterday and 15 years ago.

7. I remember being able to get up without making sound effects.

8. I had my patience tested. I'm negative.

9. Remember, if you lose a sock in the dryer, it comes back as a Tupperware lid that doesn't fit any of your containers.

10. If you're sitting in public and a stranger takes the seat next to you, just stare straight ahead and say, "Did you bring the money?"

11. When you ask me what I am doing today, and I say "nothing," it does not mean I am free. It means I am doing nothing.

12. I finally got eight hours of sleep. It took me three days, but whatever.

13. I run like the winded.

14. I hate when a couple argues in public, and I missed the beginning and don't know whose side I'm on.

15. When someone asks what I did over the weekend, I squint and ask, "Why, what did you hear?"

16. When you do squats, are your knees supposed to sound like a goat chewing on an aluminum can stuffed with celery?

17. I don't mean to interrupt people. I just randomly remember things and get really excited.

18. When I ask for directions, please don't use words like "east."

19. Don't bother walking a mile in my shoes. That would be boring. Spend 30 seconds in my head. That'll freak you right out.

20. Sometimes, someone unexpected comes into your life out of nowhere, makes your heart race, and changes you forever. We call those people cops.

21. My luck is like a bald guy who just won a comb.
