My Feedback: (10)
How much does the strut actually shrink/expand? I don’t want to get into a bunch of monkey motion with the gear doors and clearance either. If full length struts with 6 in wheels would clear everything and the gear door attached to the leg would still clear the ground without ripping off in grass I would be happy. I can envision having to trim the leg gear door and adding to the fuse side door if you take too much off the wheel size.

Well, I agree. The plane looks better to me sitting a little higher on the ground. But, other than that, there are no issues or modifications or any other problems with the shrink bar. Also, the shrink bar works mechanically, not off the air system. Your plane doesn't know or care whether it has a shrink bar or not, either air or electric.

As I understand he gear leg has air in it to expand it and no spring.. so the shrink bar pulls it in as the gear goes up and the air pushes it back down when lowered. To me this is just tweak crap that can leak/fail and cause issues.. would rather have it simple and squatty..

Just some feedback from a guy who has 60-70 Flights on a Carf P-47 with the stock Sierra gear as received from CARF on air:
It has been flawless so far; I would not try to reinvent the wheel or over think it.
I have a friend who also has the same setup, with approx. 100 flights, and his is also flawless so far.
Just my opinion.
