ProLine LiFe 3s battery
#2
Try to contact this guy first: ProLine Electronics
For his ProLine conversions, he has a note about not using any Li battery in the transmitter. But he does then qualify about voltages above 11.4
So it may be he didn't mean LiFe 3S...but it could mean that since a 3S LiFe can be as high as 10.8v hot off the charger, that might be a bit too much for these old systems.
He is the world level expert on these, so would be the ultimate authority.
If you go ahead, it is a simple matter of taking out the old battery, and attaching the + wire from the old to the + of the new (same for - to -). No need to touch the switch harness.
Finding one that fits is of course a concern.
You will NOT be able to charge the LiFe battery in the radio as it is - it has to come out for proper charging/balancing.
One could, perhaps, figure out a new/replaced connector port in the case for the main charge leads, and another for the balance leads. But that project may be beyond you if you have to ask about a basic battery swap.
Maybe Cal could do the conversion for you.
