Default paint or re-cover?

I recently bought my first airplane, a trainer, Sig KADET LT-40 ARF. I was thinking that to differentiate between the top and bottom of the wing, during flight, I would keep the top white and make the bottom a darker color. I was wondering if it would be better to paint the bottom of the wing or to lay another layer of monokote on top of the white that was already attached.

I appreciate any advice or input.

Thanks

Over the long run, you might want to do the covering. Paint seems to not stick on MonoKote for me even after doing all the surface prep. Then again, I am not an expert.

Rather than laying monokote over the white bottom, may want to do a trim pattern or strip it and do a new layer. Covering the whole underside with a second layer would be difficult to get a bubble free finish.

Painting with LustreKoat™ works for me. It messes up when patched though, sticking to the iron.
But it's easy and a lot lighter.
And a good idea..differentiating top from bottom.

You could add stripes or boxes on the bottom with the windex method.. cut new monokote to size and shape, spray wing with windex or a soap and water mixture lay the new piece down without the backer and then smooth out with a credit card or soft cloth, then use a paper towel to wipe up extra solution, then use you monokote iron on low and go over the area to set.. no bubbles and no mess.. works good[8D]
