Tip - Brass Fuel Tubing

Tip - Brass Fuel Tubing
This has probably been posted before, but....This weekend my Yellow Extra with 91FX was "burping" on vertical uplines. Just like a misfire on a gas engine. Anyway, I figured it was a fuel delivery problem, so I pulled the tank. The vent line was cracked and the other brass fuel tubing was discolored and brittle. This was the stock tank and tubing that came with the plane. Needless to say, I replaced all the tubing with new K&S brass. No more problems. This plane only had about 60 flights on it. So, check your brass every year or so, especially if you use the cheap stuff supplied with your ARF.

RE: Tip - Brass Fuel Tubing
i just replace the tubes with the yellow snake outer used with solid white inner, the exhaust and fill tubes are bent under hot water. problem solved.
personaly i don't think the tanks with brass tubes should be allowed on the market

RE: Tip - Brass Fuel Tubing
solved the problem in my Cougar.
i bent the snake with hot water running under a tap and rubbing my finger on it, would work just as well with something inside.
heres the pics... more detail in my Cougar review on my site www.philsrcworld.fsnet.co.uk
note this stuff ISNT! the one you screw the small bras bits into or threadded rods, this is snake outer from the solid white inner type. the wall is quite thin and the diameter the same as the brass.
note the use of some half way down the clunk to stop the clunk comming forward on hard landings.
the brass corroded on the tiny 1/2mm gap between the bung and tubing. i had fule problems for a couple of weeks and lean engine problems before i found this.
I've also seen SOLID! brass clunks break up.
