Default HELP! Glow Plug Blowing each run.

I have just started to have a problem with my .21 engine in my 1/8 buggy.
It has been run in on 10% nitro, had about 1.5 litres through it.
Last night the first glow plug went, so I replaced it with an identical one. The engine started, I drove around, ran out of fuel and when I went to restart, the plug was dead. This happened a further 3 times with other plugs ( not sure what these ones were)

Any ideas?

Cheers.

That is an awfully low amount of nitro, but Im not certain that is entirely bad for your engine. Better less nitro then more nitro. What I would check for is how far your piston is allowed to travel up before it is pinched and brought back down. On your next plug try running 2 copper plug shims instead of the usual one. Another instance is where little metal shavings from your piston and sleeve contaminate the element of the glow plug. In that case a rebuild may be required. Also, try running a hotter glow plug, like an OS A3 to compensate for the low amount of nitro. You could just be drowning the plug to death.

could you tell us:

1) What type of plug you use (hot/cold)
2) What % oil?
3) What temperature do you run it at?
4) You might be still breaking it in.. but are you running it rich?
5) Sorry about the long list

6) what does the plug look like when it comes out of the engine?

If you're smashing plugs,(filiment deformed) then you may need to shim the head a couple.001s

If it 10% nitro fuel, it must be airplane fuel, they start @ 18% oil.

I was blowing plugs in my X-Terminators XTM 24/7 (.247) until I just richened it up a little. As I was breaking it in more, I was leaning it out, and it was really screamin'! (loved the sound) But I decided for longevitys sake, and to keep from putting a new plug in it every run, I'd just run 'er a little on the rich side. She's still got the same Tower plug in 'er after 8-9 tanks (so far-so good) I use 20% or 25% nitro in all my car engines w/ no need for shims...I've been told, by guys who go all over the country racing 1/8 on road, that most engines will handle 20-25% w/o difficulties. They typically run 40%, and have to add a shim or two, and use a cooler plug (usually)
