Default Good 1st 3D plane???

Does anybody have a good idea of a good first 3D plane? I crashed my dazzler probably about 2 months ago, it is fixable, but i would have to take the wing apart for the 3rd time during the "fix" Now im stuck back with the trainer, and am looking for a cheap 3D plane that i wouldn't care too much if it bites the dust.

If your into building. Go for a just about any morrishobbies profile
sledge, knife, sudukoi, topcap
or
OMP edge,
out of all these planes, there really isn't a loser in the bunch. The sledge and OMP are the hottest things right now. Which is better, I have no idea. I only own the knife, and I love it. A friend of mine is building me a sledge, and I am going to build me an OMP edge over the winter. And see which one of the edges I like best.

Either one of these profiles can be build pretty quick.

I'd go with the Knife arf or kit first. The OMP 540 kit is also a great plane and would be a good first plane. The Sledge would be the one I'd get after the first one. I would keep the Topcap off my list. I would want a fatter wing with no tip stall tendencies for my first one.

Not sure just how cheap and carefree you want to get...but here's an option as cheapo and care free as you can get. Look for the Spa3d or Spa3dt at this link:

Ya, Spa3d good start. If you want balsa, and the Knife apeals to you, look into the Burrito by Paul Swaney (do a search)

It is very much like a Knife but builds stronger, IMO.

Hey, just a thought here. NOT a complaint, this is always a good question.

But should we ask for a sticky at the top of this forum for this question? It gets asked about 3 times a week!

Just a thought.

If you want to learn I have the vote for the SPA3DT

Then graduate to the Sledge, OMP edge or the knife, TopCap and such.

I forgot about the burrito. If you looking at the knife, get the burrito. I think the burrito comes out lighter but stronger. It has a carbon fiber or fiberglass rod running in the fuselage. It will probably help or prevent the fuselage from breaking right behind the wing where most profiles break from abuse.

I would also have to vouch for the spa3dt aswell. I learned to hover with it and have had several crashes and all you really have to do is put a new prop on it

LOL!!!

Maybe that's what I'll call the new profile I'm working on... the Fajitas...... hmmm..... I'd call it a gordito... but I think people would misunderstand and think it's a fat plane.... I was going to call the edge I'm working on the "Edgealada"... but that might be too corny....

Go to the SPAD forumn and search for coroplast suppliers. Can order it or buy locally. Go to spanworld.net for plans for the smaller version which will work well with a .40

talk to Swauny about the buritto it builds better, faster and holds up a heck of a lot better if you dork it since it has the carbon fiber boom.
