Default omp edge (40 size )

GOOD NEWS, I am getting a safety check from work ( I didnt touch any tail up there LOL ) and I am going to order a OMP edge. I was wondering what type servos I need to go with. I was thinking in the lines of HS-81-MG,s all the way around. Any suggestions on this. OR should i go standard size. It will be powered with a new TT pro 46. Thanks in addvance for your input,
Shane

I use 3004's all the way around, and even with a reguler size receiver and 6 cell battery pack, and the .46 is MORE than enough motor to pull this thing vertical with amazing authority!

I agree standard servos, I used the Futaba 3004, for the current one I am using Hitec digital 5245.

The Hitec hs-81 is not enough for this plane those would be more suited for a Fat-Free taco.

Build it light and you will have an airplane that will do whatever you dream it will do.

I am currently building my second one and if you have any questions at all post them here. Lots of people on this forum have built them and could answer any question you might have. Also OMP is top notch on their support, it would be tough to pick a better plane for the price.

lomcevek1,
Did you have to program your digi's? or were they fine out of the box. I have a couple of those same servos NIB that I need to put in something and the edge looks like a perfect candidate. I don't have a programer though.
The reason I picked this plane is because all the praise everyone in here has given it. OMP would be proud to see all the free addvertising
I later want to get the big boy although, it will have to wait till I get the 1/3 scale laser done.

Thanks, Shane

They are fine just out of the box. You can program them but For most people that seems to cause More problems than they solve. I just like the speed and torque for it's size. Plus they are lighter.

I have heard of one problem in that another OMP edge at my club put them in his plane and has had problems with the back two servos. I am not sure if any oil getting in could cause that or not. I have posted a question on that elsewhere and will keep you posted.

I have about half of the fuse done right now and it is more tedious than I remeber. I have about an hour each day I can build so a little bit at a time it will be done before spring. (in five months)

Here is a little trick I got from the tuesday Pro-Bro chat the canopy outline can be VERY tedious because it is about five pieces to splice together. Instead I took a leftover piece from the nose rib leftover and cut 4 strips 3/8" wide. Get them wet and bend them in roughly the same shape as the canopy outline (ie pin them to the board)Let them dry overnight. Then laminate them together worked great.

lomcevek1,
I dont have the kit yet so I am speaking only from scratch building experience. Could you cut to shape out of balsa and sandwich with lite ply? That way you don't have to bend anything. Just a thought.
Thanks for the previous, Shane

I suppose you could anything has to be better than splicing all those pieces together. You could even cut it to shape out of a chunk of 3/8. After that is finished the whole fuse is sheeted with balsa. I think there are a few build threads around. Have you seem the videos from the OMP website with Jess Rozman?
