Default Homemade transmitter tray

Here is a transmitter tray I made for my 9cap trans. Handrest is 5mm Lexan (polycarbonate). Bar is 6mm stainless, bent with vice and soft hammer. Clamp is bronze. Inner clamp is silver sildered to bar. Handrest collets are alu, retained by setscrews to bar. Basic idea from the Vario tray. Feel free to copy!

Haha! Then I must quote you: "Work is what you do for the love of it. My work is model-building. A job is what I do so I can afford to do my work".[:@]

Well, I don't do metal work. Give me a big pile of balsa, a knife, a sanding block and a bottle of carpenter's glue and I'm a happy guy.

I too wanted to make a tray for my cockpit MM but I decided the original MPX stuff was much better and lighter
Yours look so cool, did you bend the plastic and metal like that??

Yes, the plastic was bent after heating with a hot-air gun. It is a good idea to practise on a scrap piece, if the temperature is too high the plastic will boil. Heat slowly, let the heat soak right through the thickness of the material. When you feel the sheet go limp it is time to bend.

The metal rod was bent in a vice with the help of some blows with a soft hammer.

That looks great and appears like a simple build. (Don't mean easy) One question though, is there enough support for each hand on the plastic? It just looks like a small place to put your hands what with the bend in it. Where did you get the metal for the frame?

The ergonomics of the design works just great. It's your wrists and palms that need support, your fingers move around all the time. The bend allows easy acceess to switches and sliders on the lower front of the trans. Many other trays more or less prohibit use of these controls.
