Hanger Nine 80" cap232..CG??
Hi all...I aquired a HN cap232 arf 80" wing in a trade. Took it for first flight today and wow was it tailheavy...almost had to do a harrier landing...broke the prop but the plane is fine...since I dont have the instructions I need to know the recommended cg for this plane. Thanks

It came with a Moki 2.10...plenty of power for sure but it was so tail heavy when I slowed it down the tail would drop and even on low rate elevator it would want to snap...lucky to get it down with only a cracked prop 8^) So about 6in from the leading edge at the root...ok at least I have somewhere to start. Thankyou all

Sorry guys. I Was just too lazy to go get it for you last night.
With all due respect; you don't just have somewhere "to start". All you have to do is RTFM.

Ron,
Please let us know where the CG was when it was problematic. The moki is a nice engine and very powerful. If I could get my self to go glow I'd try one just for the weight savings. Thanks P51-B the 2200 is the right one. I have a 80" CAP to start building this week and am torn on what power to put in it. Ron will you also let us know if you have to add any weight?

Busted. Sorry 'bout that. I have the 97" and forgot all about the Alitalia.

Ahhhh..thus the name "learningman". I've found that the manual ''IS" just a place to START and I would take the opinion of the RCU pilots before the manual anyway. And for flying 3D the cg is almost always a ways back from the recommended manual cg.
Goekeli...all I can tell ya is it was about 3in behind the maid spar and yes I will definately have to add some nose weight...even for flying 3D...I like to make harrier landing when "I" want to, not when I have to. Maybe since I need some nose weight anyway I'll put my 3.2 Brison on it and use the Moki in a plane that I won't be flying as often, for the fuel efeciancy.

Ron,
Oooooooo, that 3.2 would really be fun! I'm thinking about the DA 50. I live in Socal but I am from Brighton and was just back there. That new hudson area sure has grown! Thanks for your input about your plane. Good luck with it.

Been flying mine at 6.5" back from the leading edge at the fuselage. I've tried back as far as 7 1/8" but didn't like the snaps. It will waterfall like no tomorrow at 6.5" and Lomcevaks (sp?) are way too fun!
Best wishes
Scott
P.S. here is the original pictures of the build. Haven't taken anymore since then.
