Default Piccolo Li-Poly battery??

Can anyone tell me what size battery to get? I thought a 7.4v but I have no idea about what mah I need. Will I need to change the gear ratio? Is it worth buying new batteries and a new charger??

I love my LiPo, i have several. If your stock, go with a 2 cell 1250mah batt. If you are brushless go with a 3 cell 1250.

Default RE: Piccolo Li-Poly battery??

I started with a FP Piccolo, stock motor and a heavy futaba gyro. I was not happy with the power until I went with a 3 cell Kokam 1020 pack.
I later upgraded to a brushless motor, and Astroflight 010 with ten turns. At that time I changed to a lighter gyro. This let me run a 2 cell LiPo pack. Originally, I ran 2c kokam 1020. Then I ran 2c ThunderPower 730. now I run 2c etec 340. Admitedly, run time is much less on the 340s. I would guess 4 minutes but I have not timed it.
Brother #1 runs his stock piccolo with my old gy240 gyro and 3c Kokam 1020.
Brother #2 runs his stock piccolo with a CSM gyro and 2c Kokam 1020.
Does this give you enough info? If you are running basically a stock setup, get a 2 cell LiPo pack, anything over 1000mAh will be fine and give you good long flight times. No need to change other electronics with a 2 cell pack.
YES, it is worth the batteries and charger.
I wish we could get the beginner packaged offered with LiPo batteries and chargers.
