Default International shipping

Since I moved out of the US and to the UK - I have most of my stuff shipped to me from over seas. On towerhobbies.com main page it has it where it says they will ship over seas... Why do people have hard time finding places to ship over seas if I can find quite a few?

So - for the people who look for over seas shipping, have you checked out towerhobbies.com? I order from a number of different places and they all say they will ship to me over here and I get stuff regularly. When I break a part or need something new, it is to expensive for me to buy it at LHS.

Just wondering...[&:]

Are you haveing to pay duty??
Im livin in Ireland and I think duty has to be paid but I think it kinda random that they check the boxes??
If your paying duty what kind of percentage
Im thinking of buying a 1/8th buggy but its gonna cost (euros) €1500 for an MBX5 with Nova Rossi P5 and futaba 3pdf and servoss and pipe?
Also got a deal from wheels n wings in UK for a £1,000 sterling.

Even with the duty/tex - I see a lot of posts where they say no one will ship to them. Is it they are trying not to pay the duty? Or the places really won't ship to them?

My biggest wonder still - is it the cost or is it these places really don't ship to where they are????

There is a guy that bought a TMaxx body from me. He emailed a US company how much they would charge for shipping a TMaxx here to the UK.

They were willing to ship here but they were going to charge for the TMaxx including shipping $950 american dollars and that did not include the VAt for when things come into the UK. Depending on the item, you can pay 17 - 25 % VAT on things being imported here.

I have ordered from all those links and recommend them all..

As for not shipping overseas, the only thing I can think of is the extra paperwork they couldn't be bothered doing (someone correct me!)..

The HK shop links above will show u shipping costs (calc'd on weight of items in basket) at checkout so you know what airmail/EMS will cost you, the US shops just seem to charge a magic number after they have ur C/Card details [:@] (if someone knows of some good US shops that ship international with shipping calc, please do post'em!!)

Just wanted to share to you my experience and in-sights.

Some on-line hobby shops have a fixed rate of shipping cost depending on the dimension of the package, weight, and destination. I believe that Tower Hobbies have different shipping rates, definitely, they will charge you higher shipping cost if you prefer to have your order shipped the fastest way. All import taxes is not shouldered by the hobby shop, once the ordered goods arrives to the country of destination, the appropriate taxes, duties and vat (rates depend on the country that are living) will be calculated by the customs examiner and total dutiable cost will be shouldered by the buyer/customer, thus, sometimes, the overall cost of merchandise is higher that what you have seen in the hobby shops catalog or on-line catalog.

One way to reduce the overall price of the merchandise that you intend to buy is get in touch with your local hobby shop and ask them them when do they usually place an order of parts from overseas, this way, you can ask them to include your order and you may save a few more money thru order consolidation, however, there might be a longer waiting time for your parts/order to arrive.

Before I moved to Canada, I had an experience ordering my parts on-line from Tower Hobbies and Stormer Hobbies. My order arrived within the estimated time frame, however, I incurr additional cost due to taxes and duties, but it is worth and extra cost for as long as I receive the goods. Here in Canada, if my local hobby shop does not have the part/s that I am looking for, it is only a 7 day wait before I get hold of it.

One large drawback for US companies who exclusively use USPS is the fact that they cannot track a package outside the US. It can be done but the cost is an additional several dollars and the package has to be signed for several times along the way making the shipment take weeks.

I was told recently that USPS will begin offering tracking for Global Priority Mail, in the states tracking is only .45 of .50 cents, I can't imagine international tracking being more than a dollar or two. When this option is availbale I'm sure the online markets are going to seriously open up.
