Default Profile engine choice

[:@]I have a Fun TIger Profile. Which of these three engines is most suitable? YS 53 fz, Saito 91 or Saito 65? Which prop size and best fuel choice? Thanks, Bruce

We put a new out of the box TT on a profile and tuned it a little. As soon as it left the deck it was in a hover. Now that's a motor you can depend on!

Well, other then the TT, if you really want one of the 3 you listed, I'd say go with a saito, except go with a 72, not the 65. The 72 and 65 use the same case, just bored out bigger for the 72. So it's lighter and more powerful then the 65. But for the price, you can't beat one of the tt 46's. Tower sells them for $82. Also in the range, a Super Tiger 45's run pretty good, but weighs about an ounce more then the tt. I had a st on a spa3d and I could fly it at just over 1/2 throttle straight up. They typically run right around $90. The OS .46fx runs good as well, but is more expensive then the others. However, it weighs less and kicks out a little more power...

As for props, the 4 strokes will generally run a bigger prop. On a Saito 72, I run an APC 13x4 wide. On 91 you'd run a 14x4 w or a 15x4 w, depending on what kind of rpm's you would get and how fast the spool up would be. The Ys I'm not really sure on, but you would probably be looking at running a 12 inch, shallow pitch prop. For any of the 2 strokes, you'd run a 12.25x3.75. Fuel, you would be looking at running anything that's around 10-15% nitro. You're choice on oil content, but it's usually recommended that you run part synthetic, part castor. You could run either 2s or 4s on regular fuel, but becareful that you don't pick up 4s fuel for a 2s... 4s fuel is blended with less oil, and 2s' need the extra oil. Extra oil won't hurt 4s', so I usually just run everything on good old omega 10% nitro. Hope this helps!

I believe the Saito-72 is actually smaller than the 65-

I would go YS-63 because of the outstanding fuel draw-

Thanks for the reply. I have the Saito 91 on the profile now and again, it seems more than enough and the plane will do all sorts of stuff, but I haven't mastered hovering yet. The torque is so strong on the 91 that just a little throttle and away it goes. I have an OS 46 fx on a trainer. Maybe I'll put that on the profile for better control and put the Saito 65 on the trainer. I might put the YS 53 on my Magic and see how that does. Right now I have an OS 40 fp on it and not too impressive for power - definately won't hover with that engine. [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

For the magic the 46fx with 12.25x3.75 and a tower muffler(worth every bit of the $15.00). Everybody I fly with thinks this is the bomb. I add a little minus expo and I hover just under half. The airplane blast out of hover. I'm working on my third Magic.

Actually, Razor, you are correct. It's the 91 and the 65 that share the same case. The 72 shares the same case as the 56.
