3w break in
I hear that the 3w's has alot of engine cuts during the break in period (approx 5 hrs.)
does anyone have any experience with that?
should I be in safe potential height for the first few hours?
why not break in the engine on solid ground using fans to cool it and get the air flowing around it?
(I know the prop load is not the same but it still beats loosing your plane...)

You shouldn't have any problems flying the plane during the break-in. Don't over load the engine with too big a prop, run 32:1 petroleum oil, make sure the carb is set slightly rich, keep the engine cool with adequate air intake and exit in the cowl, work the throttle and avoid hovering, make sure your fuel lines can't suck an air bubble, and use a fuel filter.

The only bit of disinformation is the "mild abrasives". Petroleum oil does not have mild abrasives. All lubricants are designed to minimize abrasive wear. Synthetic oils just do a better job of preventing metal to metal wear.

I'm on my second gallon w/32:1 lawnboy. Its never quit yet! After the initial start up to check idle and hi speed, its been in the air. The only problem with the 3W might be the carb diaphram press hole. Too much cowl air press on it will make the engine stalll. There is an easy fix addressed on the Aircraft international website and in the instructions of the engine. No big deal!
