Default anybody tried this

It surprises me that nobody has thought about cooling their boards.

Most people will put heatsinks on both their motors but nothing on the speed control, when i used to tinker with r.c cars all the good esc`s had heatsinks on them.Im running my aerohawk with a 3 cell li-ion battery and it goes like a bomb.the batt on there is the standard one which works well too. everything is standard except the shaft collar which i made myself. some how I havent burned out the board.i think to get the same wattage out of a motor at a higher voltage means you draw less amps or something like that. I expect the motors to have a short life but who cares theyre cheap to replace.as an added caution ive put a heatsink on the fets.has anybody else tried this,it seems an obvious thing to do.

hI

I got this thinking also but haven't implement it yet..haven't go and shop for some electronic heat sink. I think if you are running on all stock item, it should not be a problem without heat sink because it is design to withstand some heat.

Quaker 1 - Do you get longer flight times with the li-ion battery?

Ive just bought one from Midland helicopters but it's 7.2v 1400mah and wont lift my aerohawk off the ground even though this battery is lighter than the original []

I am going to ask them to exchange it as they state it works on the piccolo ( similar size heli so I doubt it!!) but I'm not sure which one to get now??

I want longer than the 6-7 mins I get from the stock battery.

Yeah I had the same problem with mine, wouldnt even take off. Thats why i went for the 11.1v 3c 700mah battery and the heatsink on the board.the flight times are much longer because you only need less than half stick to hover.all you have to be a bit careful about is not to get too big a motor or it will draw too much current. Mine is the standard one and it really climbs well.

Just in case i fried my board i bought this.
