I i have been overdue on my AMA membership, im a youth and have lost my old AMA card..
i was wondering if your membership starts before or when you get the card?????
- reason is my club wont let me fly without my card, i told the i cant find it andthey still wont let me?

Your membership card...if the 2001 expired on 12-31-01.

You can use a parents credit card to get your renewal......and have AMA send a verification via e-mail.........Can't put the blame on the club......no card.....no insurance.........

The club has to take that position, they can't afford to any other way, it's the insurance. If you give AMA a call they may still have you old number available. AMA is a necessary part of this hobby, it's money well spent.

I got out of the sport for 4 1/2 years and they (AMA) still had my number 2 years ago so he should be able to keep his. And just to echo...money well spent whether you fly with a club or not.

You membership starts when you register. I usually do it by fax and I use the response fax as validation. You can do the same via email.

If you send in a personal check as payment, most clubs will honor the date that the check was written as a working date for the start of membership. Be sure you photo copy the check and send the membership by certified mail. This will provide a form of proof to the club that you have complied with the membership requirements until you card arrives.

If you pay by credit card direct to that AMA via the internet website (www.modelaircraft.org,) you membership will usually begin immediately. Just check the box that states that you fees paid are for renewell, not new member. You will get the same number that you had before.
