The Gyro may be reversed, which way is it turning? Clockwise?

Does the TR turn? Is the ESC arming properly? I have a similar setup. HB, ICS 300 & ICS 50 ESC's, GWS 4 ch rx and GY240 gyro. Mine works great. When I power up the heli, I simply move the rudder stick far left for a second to arm the TR ESC. The off position for the TR will be with the rudder stick centered. The TR will not turn until the main rotor spools up (and creates some torque).

If the TR is turning, rotate the heli nose left to see if the TR speeds up. If it speeds up when you rotate the heli nose right, the gyro is backwards.

Regards,

Mike

Hi all

If you read ICS instruction carefully. I does mention that it need to go 0% value for 1 second in order to armed/initialize itself.

Right. And apparently what happens when you power up the model, although you have to move the stick far left to initialize it, it still treats center stick as zero speed since that's where it was when it was turned on. The ESC is not capable of reversing the motor's direction so left stick doesn't do anything with the heli on the ground and the main rotor not turning. So the TR is off until you move the stick right or the gyro tells it to turn once the main rotor spins up and the torque tries to turn the heli to the left and the gyro takes over. I'm not quite sure what the setup would be if you were not using a heading hold gyro, obviously you'd have to use some revo mix.

Regards,

Mike

Hi yellowtigermoth

U said your tail won't stop spinning in what way and in what condition?

I'm using GY240 with 2 ICS also. I notice that with this separate combination, when your left stick is at 0% throttle and neutral left/right, the tail motor will still spin but it spin in low RPM in such a way it doesn't move the tail. I guess this is the disadvanges of going HHold.

If your tail is moving when u are in 0% throttle, then it could be your GY240 direction is in reverse. Switch the Nor/Rev switch to the other side.

Hi yellowtigermoth

U either use HHold or Revo Mix... U can't use both. According to those who has Revo Mix Transmitter (TX), if u enable both... your chopper will go haywire.

I do not have Revo Mixer TX...so I don't know which one is the best. If u really ask me... I think HHold is better.

BTW... to turn off HHold for GY240, There is a switch called AVCS. Just switch that one to off.

I reset & go with acro mode on my control it will try to control at the beginning then keep going in circle & broke the rear prop & flybar. I tried both with hh & without, rev/normal, getting ready to go back to mixer or burn it.

I still suspect your Gyro direction are wrong. Tell us where u mount the Gyro and where is the wire (Or Futaba Label) pointed to.

Yes, it's possible the gyro is oriented wrong. The label side, where there switches and gain adjustment pot must be on top, not mounted perpendicular so the label faces front, back or side.

Hi yellowtigermoth

U can mount the Gyro in the rear of your chopper or in the front but remember the direction.

I mounted mine in front with the Nor/Rev switch to Rev (Reverse). Here is the picture:
