Default Plane balanceing

I'm trying to balance my nexstar select 46 for practice for future build. She flies fine now as she was setup from factory. I have the Great Planes C.G balancer and when I line it up to the C.G marks on plane, its very nose heavy!! Is it like this from factory anyone? Could I be doing something wrong? I can't see how this premade plane could be this nose heavy? I followed the directions per G.P, so any help would be great!!

Thanks in advance!!!!!

Typically, the recommended CG for any model is set forward of the optimum point. For the first flights on a new plane, this insures stability. There is much more to trimming a plane than fiddling with the radio trims.

Although specifically for pattern, this chart tells you how to trim any plane. Personally, when it gets to cutting the wing apart, to change the dyhedral, I quit.

AS said above a nose heavy condition usually makes the plane more stable.

Bring the cg back 1/4" at a time until you like how the plane flies. Shift you battery pack and/or receiver rather than adding weight as a last resort. Good luck !

I’m not personally familiar with the Nextstar, but I highly doubt it was shipped pre balanced from the factory. Differences in wood densities, glue application, etc. will make two apparently identical planes weigh different and balance different. Assembling and placing equipment in the specified locations will likely get the balance point close but rarely accurate. Every plane should be checked for balance and adjusted accordingly, regardless of how much it is pre-assembled for you.

I had a RFT SuperStar that landed fast. I checked the balance and it came really nose heavy. Just put some stick on weights on the tail and it lands like a trainer should.

If it flies fine then leave it alone.
