Sachs Dolmar Engines....any good ?
Want an engine for my ziroli corsair thinking of something a little different but dont know to much about these engines. Thinking of the 5.0 CU. IN. 80 CC. Twin Cylinder any feed back would be greatly apprecited.
Maybe a different engine would be better you tell me
Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom,
Generally speaking, Sachs Dolmar engines or engines based on the Sachs piston/cylinder are good. I'm not familiar with the engine you gave pictured.
I'm using a Brison 5.8 in my Ziroli Corsair and really like it. Since I can't seem to build the tail light the extra weight of this engine came in handy. Probably more Ziroli Corsairs use a Zenoah G-62 than any other engine. The ZDZ80RV would also be a choice. The cowl diameter is a limiting factor for many twins.

The only parts of the Air Hobbies twin in the picture actually made by Sachs Dolmar are the cylinders and pistons...They are the best made...I won't comment on the rest...

A 5.2 single or a 5.8 would work well in the corsair, they are still plentiful and the selling price seems to be creeping down bit by bit. Any a/m or a saw case engine is a good one to look for.

Like I said, the only Sachs Dolmar parts on the Air Hobbies engines are the pistons and cylinders, equal to anything made anywhere in the world...PLEASE don't judge other engines with these parts by your bad experience, you'll be missing some GREAT engines....

Sachs doesn't make model engines. They made power tool engines for chain saws and such like. Some foks made model engines from these. Some folks used the crankshaft and cylinders and made their own crankcase for billet. Then others have used the Sachs piston and cylinder then made their cranksaft and crankcase.
Quality varies widely so ask before you buy.
