Default Kokam Lipos...any good?

just got done installing my edf-40 and am experiencing shorter flight times so I want to get some Lipos, allerc.com has 2 cell kokams with an etec charger for like 65 bucks. Does anyone see these as being a problem for my setup? (dragonfly with the edf40-everything else is stock) uhh thanks!

the Kokam 1500 2s is a great battery, you will not have any problems using it.
Most people who have installed the edf-40 have found that it is not powerful enough though. That is possibly one reason your flight times are shorter. It is running almost full throttle just to keep up in a hover. The EDF-50 is a better choice.

I tried the Kokam 2 cell 1250 and found it didnt do much for me.The battery when fully charged would cause my chopper to "glitch" and "tail wag"for some odd reason.
So I switched to Thunderpower 2 cell 1350 and the trouble is gone.
Go figure...

lineman,

Can you give us more specifics on your setup? That is really odd, I don't think I have ever heard of something like that. Did your purchase your Kokam new?

I agree, it is unlikely that a battery will cause glitching. Perhaps you changed something else when you changed the battery. Antenna routing, loose connection?
The 1250 Kokam is marginal for our purposes though. It is rated just on the edge of the current draw we pull in these micro helis. The 1500 although bigger and heavier supplies ample current.

Yes I bought it new.I found it to be strange...but I have tried it numerous times with correct charging rates and for some reason it keeps giving me a glitch here and there.
Any insight on why?
No problem with the Thunderpower cells.
I am using the Johnson main motor/9T and tail motor.I just relocated my antenna and I am charging the battery as we speak to see if that had anything to do with it.
Process of elimination....
Ill report back tomorrow with the results.
Cheers!
