I just started to hook up my servos for my new us60. I'm putting in the quad flaps and can't figure out how to get the flaps to work properly. It says to reverse on servo and use a Y (I have a futaba 6xa radio). How do I reverse only one servo?

Any help would be great!

That radio wont do it but there are ways. You can buy a miracle Y which makes the servos move the oppisite directions. Or have the control arms for both flap servos face left on the plane. Or use a futaba servo on one side and a JR on the other. Any of these should make your servos work like flaps instead of AILE.

Or just use the same side of the servo on both flaps... either offset the servo mounting or offset the flap horn position to do this. Then you can use a Y and identical servos, no mixing and no messing around.

I am not familiar with the Futaba 6XA, but, I did look up the specs on the radio. It appears to have one free p-mix. If this is the case, use the mix to couple the aux and flap channel and reverse the servo on the aux channel electronically.

If the aux channel is taken by ailerons, try this, it works with the JR 6 channel raidos with available mix. Go to the gear setting. Change the full throw in the gear channel to the same as no throw. This has the affect of turning off the gear switch. You can then use the gear channel to couple to the flap channel.

If all you are looking for is 'flaps'only, there is a very simple way to use standard servos for the job.
Place the push/pull rod clevis in the servo arm that is in line with the horn and the center of the servo (not the side arms). IE the shortest length at neutral. No matter which way the servo rotates the pull on the flaps will be the same.

Here's what it would look like!
Servo arm should be line with the servo output axis and the hole in the surface horn at servo neutral.
The 2nd drawing shows a more better servo orientation.. same principle.. the flap moves only down with either
direction on the servo.
The 3rd shows the flaps in my Dynaflite P-51.. copes with dihedral and the swept forward hinge line.
And the 4th is my most usual method.. one servo, with all the servo motion being available for flap motion. In my PT-19 and BT-13, for example

On flaps use the same side, on ailerons use the same side.
This will reverse them.

Thank you everyone!! Because the ultra stick is covered and the servo horn mounting balsa is offset to one side (I would have to cut the monocoat and add balsa), I opted for the servo reversing "Y" harness. It only costs $9.00 at the local hobby shop. Seems to work great. Thanks again for all the input. RC UNIVERSE IS THE BEST!!!!!
