Lots of 1st .. but no 2nd
Hey,
I have two questions ...
1. I recently switch tranny cases (screws were striped) and now the tranny will not shift into second. I have done everything i can think of. I check the slipper clutch; I reopened the tranny and check the gears, and everything. But i can't think of anything else. The worst part is it was shifting fine before i switched cases.
Anyone have any more ideas ?
2. I bought the Traxxas Carbon Disc and was wondering what brake pads people are using. I first tried just the metal calipers and they worked ok... then I tried the pads that came with my RR Disc, but they just to worn out to work well.
Anyone have any suggestions or what they have been using?
Thanks

the "shift point" can be adjusted. i dont know why it would have changed when you swapped trans casses but there is a Traxas writeup on how to adjust the shift point. (it may even be in the manual)
i switched from a glazed up stock brake to a new traxas CF one and readjusted everything, paying close attention to how much slop there was (ie elimitnating most if not all of it) I reversed the stock metal calipers and although i still cant do nose stands or flips it does stop much quicker than before (i run road rage tires and run a lot on hard surfaces, and feel my spring and damping rates are close to ideal for what run)

You can adjst the slip point, My advise would be to dis-assemble your tranny again and familiarize yourself with the shift mechanics. This way you will understand what your trying to accomplish.

Also, this happened to me, Do not over-tighten the screws holding the transmission together.. doing so will cause unwanted friction.

I got an .18 and had tranny problems at first. The .18 had too much torque off the line and would put the tranny into second and keep it there. I had to sit for a couple of runs and adjust it.
It was pretty much stuck in second.
The brake I'am using is the carbon fiber one. I took the calipers and polished them with a dremel
and took out alot of the slop by tightening them up. I also use a spring instead of fuel tubing on the linkage. I also use a spring from the other side of the linkage to make it retract back so they don't bind.
