Scott
Thanks but they are just not up to the job. I´ve ruined two sets so far (the same as yours but for turbine).
The area of the sliding bolt taking all the antirotation force, is way too small with such soft aluminum in the outer/upper strut part. The slot just grows bigger, giving slop, making the wheel to twist and therby imposing to much pressure on the C-clip holding the wheel in place. After my last landing the wheel departed the perimiter of the airfield and was never found! (aircraft also damaged)
I just want something that works.
A set of ROBARTS with the correct wheel axle angle would be a snap to install in the Spring Air mechanics but I appreciate your effort to help me out.
Regards
Thomas

RE: Avonds F15 main struts
Kevin Barr used heavier springs in the struts which keeps the struts from working up and down so much. It helps keep wear down. He also said that the robart struts don't really fit well in the Spring Air trunnion blocks. He has used both and prefers the Spring Air/Avonds Struts over the Robart retracts/struts.

I replaced my struts for just the same reason, and the second set is beginning to wear. Is there anyone out there who can machine the main legs from steel ?
Incidentally I have rust retrofitted my model with kevlar tanks from Intairco, they put 3.5 liters of fuel right on the C of G.

Hi David,
I have had my Avonds legs retrofitted with scisssor links. These eliminate the twisting movement which destroys the legs. The only slight drawback is that the scissors face rearward which is not scale. Peter Agnew at Intairco has the scissors and mine were fitted by Frank Rogers. They are the scissors which Peter is using on his new oleo legs. I am sure if you contact him he will be able to either supply the scissors with the fitting information, (requires some lathe work) or have Frank do the job.
Russell.

Hey Thomas my friend
Why don´t you talk to Kurt. He is using landinggear from Have in Germany. And he must have more than 200-250 flights on his F15, with that gear.
Anyway great flying this Sunday. That bird really looks nice in the air.

And by the way. I also think it was some great flying during this past weekend. I love the looks of your F-15 Thomas.

Hi Russell,
Yes I forgot Peter mentioned this to me. Must get it done, I'll take the old legs to Sale. Philip's F15 is such a superb machine its time this last chink in its armour was fixed. Perhaps a combo of steel legs and scissors would be real fix.
See you at Sale with the F4, F86 and Bobcat and a LOT of fuel !
Best regards,
David.
