I have a plan to help keep rocks out my gears.
I have an electric CEN GX-1 and run it in parking lots. I keep getting small rocks into my pinion/spur gears. Not much of a problem for the metal pinion but it eats my plastic spur gears alive. I am currently building a shield for these gears out of left over lexan (the prototype is made out of milk jugs lol). I was trying to find someone that has done this so I can get some ideas on the constriction. So far I have made a part that blocks rocks from kicking off the wheels. It basically mounts to the lower A-arm. Another part blocks the rocks from comming through the chassis under the gears. This part extends up the side of the gears and blocks the side. There is another part that blocks half the front of the pinion, I couldn't block it completely due to the drive belt. I'm still working on the part to block the rear of the gears but I have a partial idea I am working with. The best part is its hard to see this stuff while the body is on. If you have done this or have an idea please post it here. I will put up my pics when it is completed in Lexan and looks decent.
