RC Raven... Don't do it! Read---
I have tried to remain positive, and Russ is great and the customer support is GREAT, but the products are just sub par for the Maxx.
I bought a 4mm Maxx Raven Chassis, Chassis Braces, Skidplates and bumpers at RCX.
Well, aside from the bumpers I have had NOTHING but problems with everything else.
Both Aluminum Chassis Braces have broken where the trans skidplate mounts. He replaced my original two, and the second pair did the exact same thing.
The front skidplate is bent improperly and extends beyond the front bumper. As many of you know, if the skid extends beyond the front bumper that is nothing but trouble. I was able to bend the front skid enough to get it behind the bumper though.
The rear skidplate is about .25"-.5" too long on the kickup part. It again extends out past the rear bumper, and a direct landing cost me some bulkheads. The rear skid is TOO long to bend to get it behind the bumper though.
The Chassis is ok EXCEPT For one huge thing. The ENGINE mounting!!! C'mon! There are some big cutout holes, and then a rinky dink steel plate that mounts below and keeps it in one place. Ghetto. I tried it, and it doesn't work. There isn't enough adjustment of the motor front/rear, so the air filter tube is like .005" from the spur gear, and it is impossible to maintain a good engine alignment- it moves no MATTER what I do. I have stripped numerous spurs because of this chassis.
The bumpers are fine, but just add too much weight over the stockers to be effective.
Now, the stuff looks good sure, but I do run my truck, and this stuff is NOT built to take it. My Maxx was in perfect runner condition before this stuff, now all I have done is take it home early the last few times out.
Rc Raven Chassis- gone
Rc Raven skids- gone
Rc Raven bumpers- gone
Rc Raven chassis braces- gone
I am putting all of the stock stuff on, and I am not going to touch a THING unless it's UE or HCR. You DO get what you pay for, believe me on that. You think you're getting a deal, but you aren't.
Sorry if you read this Russ, but it's back to the drawing board man...

Another perfect example of why not to buy anything other then UE in the first place! I learned the hard (expensive) way as well! UE makes the best parts for the Maxx.

And don't do what most people do and get crazy about the prices! I know they seem high but, not as much as it will cost you in the long run buying replacment "Hopups"! As I said before I know I have boxes and boxes of "Hopups" taking up closet space!

Which RC chassis did you get ?
Beat your truck did a review of a "The RC Raven Chrome Chassis is 4.7 mm thick and made from T6-6061 " and had good things to say about it. From the pics of it seem to have a standard mount for the engine. 4 oblong holes just like stock.
Sorry the parts didnt work out. Maybee you can put them up on ebay or something and get some money back out of them.

6061 is the key word here. Most companies don't place ill reviews anyway just because of kickbacks from the manufacturer. 6061 is very soft metal and will flex like crazy. 7075 or bust. UE all the way for me as well, or one of their "partners" great assembly or Dace Manufacturing. Those guys will never do you wrong.

Don't forget Rockhoundz. I've got a set of their chassis braces I've had for 3 years now and have been on 4 different race trucks and now on a basher and they are still going strong. I also have a set of their aluminum skids that have bent like all aluminum skids do where they exit from under the chassis, but other than that not a single mangled hole and still good and flat. They don't try to make everything, but the things they do make or top drawer.
