Progressive EDC-2 Shock Issues?
Anyone have some Progressive EDC-2 shocks and they leak (a lot)[&o]? I do. Rebuilds took forever. After spending $300 I would expect some super quality stuff and some long runs (>an hour) without a need to rebuild. Anyway, I love them now. I did some reverse engineering and found out what was wrong, why, and how to fix them. Anyone interested?
This will be breif. The shaft orings, the red ones, are silicone. Silicone is not compatable with silicone oil? HHMM? I tried some alternative materials and replacements (I have an oring source with my work). These leaked too. After some phone calls to Progressive, I found I was on my own. To get to the point, Apple Rubber Products have custom built some special Buna-N orings for me (again, a business source so the price was "low") and I have redesigned the size of the orings within proper design specs and the seal configuration. They don't leak any more and work awsome. I have about 6 hours of run (through fine dust) and there is not a drop to be seen.
If anyone is interested, drop me a note ([email protected]) and I can hook you up with some of the orings, backup washers, and the configuration for the install (for a small fee). These are not round orings. They are somewhat square shaped and have two sealing surfaces per side (top, botton, inside, outside) per oring as compared to one seal per side with the standard orings shape.
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY NOW!!!!!
